The hostess ( brown hair, glasses about mid 20’s) is rude and callous. She should NOT be in charge of seating or greeting customers. On Veteran’s Day, the restaurant had 4 waitresses, and her. The wait staff was doing the best they could to serve the Veteran’s. However, with Covid protocols, they had lots of empty tables. The hostess would not assist in cleaning tables, nor would she assist in helping the wait staff. She literally walked around trying to look important, choosing to do nothing. The lobby had approximately 25 people waiting patiently for tables ( the hostess said it would be 30-35 minute wait) I walked to the hostess stand and noticed the list was barely moving. I inquired why and she stated, I have to wait until tables are cleaned. At one point 7 different tables left at the same time or close proximity. I asked again how long since so many people left...she sat another couple. Customers kept coming in and asking the wait time. At one point she responded to a woman about 30 minutes, I laughed and another man and I both responded, “ We have been here about an hour” The hostess got angry and looked straight at me pointing towards the door and yelled, “ If you don’t like the wait you can leave, there’s the door”! Everyone in that lobby heard it and began to say how incredibly rude the hostess was. I was the next person to be seated and that hostess walked away. The manager came and many people were explaining how blatantly rude the hostess was. A waitress came up and laughing said, I usually ask how your day is but I already know! I ordered my food and asked if the hostess would have someone spit in my food because she was so crazy. The waitress told us, “ I REFUSE to wait on you”. The manager had to wait on us, while the waitress ( blonde, middle aged over weight) laughed with the hostess! When my husband and I left four people told us they could believe how utterly awful the hostess was, and we’re planning to call corporate. I called corporate myself and am waiting for a response. I can’t believe the waitress and hostess DO NOT REALIZE that Without Customers they don’t have a JOB! The manager was a wonderful gentleman but he is accepting rudeness because he’s trying to keep his business open! My husband was a Veteran and was treated like a prisoner of war! Think twice before you go to breakfast at...
Read moreI have been to the Novi location a few times in the last couple years. The service is always slow, to the point of not wanting to return. My 8 yo. grandaughter just got her braces the day before and wanted pancakes. I thought the IHop in Canton can't possibly be like Novi... Upon entering, there was a customer standing at the register with her bill. No employee in site. Very few customers in the dining room. We stood at the front waiting to be acknowledged for what seemed like a long time. When the "customer" waiting to pay her bill said, someone will come to seat you. Shortly after, I saw a woman, ( my guess was a manager) say something to another employee. She came over to take care of the customer paying the bill. Did not acknowledge that, we too were standing there. The manager made eye contact. I said 2 please. No welcome, sorry for the wait.... She took us to a table. We waited for a long time playing the games on the kid placemat. After another long wait, I said to my grandaughter, "Apparently, this IHOP is just like the one by your house that we don't go to any more! The service is awful! We finally had one person take our order, another brought our drinks. I Specifically asked for hot tea "with cream or milk". A different person brought the drinks. No cream. But a bowl of honey and lemon. A 3rd person brought the food. Surprisingly, in a decent amount of time. The food was quite good! A 4th person asked if everything was ok and did we need anything else. One of the 4 brought the bill & said she'd take it up when I was ready. It was not a horrible experience. The staff was nice enough. However, I was not left with a feeling of wanting to return. I do not expect matre' D service, but my experience with I HOP left me feeling like... I will not go to another IHOP again. Both locations need to step it up! Have someone at the front to greet & sit customers in a friendly manor. Not left standing waiting & wondering, should I seat myself or leave! Don't leave the customer seated for so long before taking their order. This seems to be The Way of IHOP EVERYTIME I have been to their locations. My daughter has refused to go back to the Novi location due to such poor service so many times. It is a shame as the menu looks quite good! I wish I could have left a...
Read moreI will not be going back. I walked in and was the first person in line the greeter was on the phone so I waited, a guy walked in stepped in front me and she got off the phone and she failed to even acknowledge me and serviced that guy instead. She left to get that guys call in order and was gone for around 4 minutes meanwhile 3 more people walked in and another woman came in and walked in front me but this I had to get irritated enough to say no I was here waiting I'm next and you will seat me first. After me and my son were seated the waitress didn't show up for 10 minutes then she acted like she didn't have time for us and didn't seem to know anything about the food. She did gave us our drinks but we didn't see her until around 20 minutes later. She never came by for a refill or any updates on the food. The table next to us was two tables pushed together and stack high with dishes and spilled liquids. The next table was clean except the spilled liquids on it. The restaurant seemed dirty. I saw around 10 different workers walking around some were going out the back door and coming in and out. From my perspective it looked like they had enough help but seemed like it was complete chaos with people doing whatever they want. When the waitress brought my crepes her thumb print was in my crepe. The portions were small and the food was just mediocre for how much they're charging. Johnny cakes is in the same plaza I've only had good food and experiences there but I've only been there twice I would recommend that twice over IHOP but they're really busy at johnnycakes. Lastly my bill was 32 for breakfast! after a 7 dollar tip that I begrudgingly gave her it was almost 40 dollars for breakfast. I do not recommend...
