I'm usually pretty forgiving of restaurants in the past two years because of the staffing shortage and such do to Covid, but what we experienced last night was inexcusable. My wife and I have tried this place before when we first moved to the area and it was okay, but not really impressed. I always like to give restaurants a second chance so I figured we'd try it again. My wife, toddler, and I were seated promptly when we arrived and then proceeded to wait about 10 minutes for some one to take our drink orders and bring chips to the table. We just decided to order our drinks, queso, and dinner at that point because we had been waiting so long just to get a drink order in. We waited another 10 minutes to get our drinks (which were already half way melted frozen margaritas) and no queso dip. While waiting we decided to try the chips and salsa....chips were pretty good however the salsa was basically tomato water...no flavor at all other than the huge pieces of oregano floating in the salsa. About 15-20 minutes past and I figured something was up as we had been in the restaurant about 40ish minutes at that point (restaurant wasn't that busy, and people who had arrived later had gotten their food). So we flagged down a waitress and she told us that our waitress was "sick" and she was trying to pick up the slack and that she couldn't find our ticket. First off you don't tell customers that an employee is sick during a global pandemic, especially when the sick waitress wasn't wearing a mask (not trying to be the mask police here). The waitress assured us that our waitress didn't have Covid and that she was just dizzy. This caused an adjacent table to get up and leave right away. The waitress that was filling in came back and said that our order was in...which it wasn't because the manager came over and apologized and said that our meal was on him and retook our order. I told him that I didn't want the food if the order hadn't been placed because our toddler was about to lose it. He ignored us and made the food anyway and we waited another 10-15 minutes while other customers continued to get their food. We about walked out, but our daughter was saying she wanted to eat so we stayed. We tracked down the manager again and he basically told us that we had to be patient and one of our items takes longer to cook so that's the reason we had to be patient. Didn't apologize just said the meal was on him. When the food arrived it was the most bland food I had ever had from a Mexican restaurant, I was happy I didn't have to pay for it because it's very overpriced for the quality. Very disappointed and will never come here again. If you are looking for great Mexican food in the area go to Los Tres Amigos, or drive to Los Amigos in Ypsi, better service and way better food. Heck i'd go to Chili's or Taco Bell...
Read moreMy first visit this evening after hearing how good the food was here for many years. Well... very disappointing to say the least. First the meat in the tacos tasted old and cooked down. When we spoke to the manager he did indicate they cook 80 lbs of beef every few days. Its then used over the next few days... so that explained that. Now onto the 3 Enchilada meal with rice and beans. First the meal was like warm at best on a cold plate. First time ever eating mexican food and the actual plate was cold. Nothing worse than cold refried beans. Cold sourcream would have made them refrigerator cold. Now the Enchilada had to be decent right? Whelp.... nope. If a melted pile of mozzarella that was big enough to cover 3 Enchilada and part of the plate. Cheese being literally 5/8" thick (I measure for a living...) is your thing then rush on over to this place and order. Any idea how not yummy a super slab a chunk of cheese like that taste like? Especially when barley warm. The scary part when it cools down. It locks in those Enchildas like a car thief in a Tijuana jail. The chicken one shreaded chicken in a tortilla with zero sauce inside and not a drop of sauce on the outside on any of them. The chunky beef one big pieces of beef tough as Mike Tyson on a bad day. Again no sauce at all. Just giant chunks of beef that filled half of the tortilla with zero sauce. Oh but wait we had the ground beef one left. Oh that's right the ground beef is cooldd every few days. Which it taste like it too. This place may have served decent food at one time. However now, they should be ashamed to call that food. Maybe chef Microwave is getting tired. The atmosphere well worn and worn some more.. old booths with ripped seats. Floors are old worn tile. The wrought iron facades dividing booths and parts of the restaurant were worn out in 1980. They also have many coats of chipping paint. The front door and inside entry door. Both had broken windows covered and tapped up by cardboard. I gotta tell you though... the Long Island Ice tea was great. It was even overpriced like the poor quality food. It was $14.00 for about an 8 oz glass if that with the ice removed. I hate to say it and I dont often. Avoid this place it will possibly kill you. Why you ask? The oregano they use in the salsa is from whole sections of the plant. We found several long pieces about 2.5" long in our salsa. They are the same diameter and with the same sharp point as a needle. Dr. Pimple popper would have been in heaven. Imagine getting that stuck in your throat or even worse it could perforated your bowl causing necrosis. Who ever owns this place. You have some work to do. Thank you for reading my review. This is my honest and truth opinion of my first experience with this establishment. Taco Bell...
Read moreThis is a local mainstay and among the longest running restaurants in Canton. Go here around dinnertime on the weekend and you'll almost definitely have a 10+ minute wait to be seated.
Is the fame warranted? Mexican Fiesta's menu hasn't changed much over the years, it used to offer a pick your own items for a dinner combo platter that I really enjoyed and a number of other items were cut from the menu during the pandemic as well.
Thankfully the signature recipes haven't changed and those that love especially cheesy burritos with your choice of beans, chicken or beef - ground or braised - will be satisfied here. Their house-made salsas are on the thinner side but have a nice bite and slather well over very well made refried beans and rice that come standard with every dinner. Not a fan of one of the sides? you can get cole slaw instead, which is also pretty tasty.
Definitely come hungry and with a group start with a Botana while you're here. If you like Nachos with lots of fresh vegetables, refried beans and chorizo again covered in excellently melty Muenster cheese.
Come between Lunch and dinnertime for your first visit for a proper impression of the restaurant without the wait, and NOISE. High ceilings, reflective surfaces and very little carpeting to dampen it makes the place a little cacophonous when this place gets busy - you'll have to increase volume to talk to anyone not directly next to you. This can be mitigated a bit if you're able to sit in the back room, which isn't always an option.
I won't end on a bad note - the place deserves its' kudos and and is a definite staple of the community. I'm very glad they've still got heart in it, the servers are speedy and the prices have only increased a little bit over the years. You can still get out of here with some leftovers and be filled to the brim for under $25 per person - that's getting a plate of 3 burritos/tacos, splitting a large botana, a beverage and a decent tip. Worth...
