I meet a friend for brunch every 4-5 months, and we like to try new places all the time. This was on my list of places to try and when we walked in we immediately got a table, and we went at noon on a Sunday. The reason we were able to get a table so quick is because there are probably 40 tables packed like sardines in there. When we sat we were able to better look around. The decor is terrible. There is nothing on the walls, but a TV, and this is not a sports bar. The tables are all sitting on plain ceramic tile floors and bland beige walls, and there are SO many tables it seems the environment lacked imagination. They were just row after row of table. And for that reason, it is loud in there. But now, to get to the food, which is why you all are here in the first place. I was looking for a lighter fare option, but the only things they had were like a spinach egg-white omelet and fruit, oatmeal, etc. I opted to get the simple combo, and I subbed egg-whites for scrambled eggs, and I chose wheat toast and turkey sausage and fruit. It was really really good. I felt satisfied and it was delicious. My friend got the pb&j french toast which looked amazing and scrambled eggs and hash browns. They all looked so good. I wished I was eating whatever I wanted, lol. I probably wouldn't come back because it felt really cramped in there, but if my friend wanted to go back, I would.
Update: I went back! And boy am I glad I did! I got the triple meat skillet with an over medium egg and a side order of pancakes and man oh man that is my go to now. Savory and sweet and so good! Been back a few times and that’s what I get. Sometimes you just gotta find the right thing to order. My kids like the Mickey Mouse pancakes with chocolate chips and my other kid got the cheeseburger and fries and both said they were delicious!
2nd update: tried the chicken tortilla soup and it was so good! Very similar to a restaurant that closed down...
Read moreMy family and I love Johnny cakes! It is ALWAYS worth the wait time they have! Ever since the first time we tried it we can’t get enough! We discovered it one day when the wait at IHOP was insanely long, and someone else waiting had suggested we try this place if we’ve never been- and are we glad we did!! I always get the avocado toast, it beats any other avocado toast I’ve had anywhere else ever. My husband likes to try something new everytime, but his favorite is the chorizo skillet. They have some kind of homemade spicy sauce on there that is just perfect. We always get their fresh squeezed OJ. It is SO GOOD. I was in there a few days ago and noticed they have alot of pumpkin specialties- pancakes, French toast, crepes. That will be my next trip. Service is ALWAYS spot on. 5 stars. Kelly and Casey are our favorites, but we have never had a bad experience with anyone else. They truly do welcome you with open arms, and care about the experience you have. I have met the owner, Johnny, and he’s as nice as ever also. If we don’t have the kids, we usually sit at the bar they have, and it’s always the same cooks, which is good for consistency to see familiar faces all around. They always greet us as well and ask us how we’re doing. We are long time regulars, I don’t do reviews a lot, but I figured I would give them a 5 star rating after realizing how many people don’t know about this place. They deserve it. I only wish they would advertise more. Keep up the good work guys!!!!!...
Read moreShort version: Don't expect the same treatment or consideration as white customers. I won't return.
Long version: Having worked in food service myself for a number of years I generally overlook a lot when I go out to eat. This morning I couldn't. My wife, my 3 year old son, and I decided to try this place for breakfast instead of IHOP. We were seated and look around, no other people of color - a little weird for Canton but no big deal. The waitress brings our menus, but no coloring menu for our son. I don't think anything of it, maybe she just forgot, or they ran out, but she didn't mention it as an option at all. Then a white family is seated behind us and she brings out the coloring menu for their son who is around my son's age. A few minutes later, a middle eastern family with 2 young boys are seated on the other side of us and they weren't offered the coloring menus either from the same waitress. At this point I look around some more and see that they have a bunch of coloring menus from children posted on the wall so it's apparently something freely offered. I asked the family with the 2 boys on our way out if they were even offered coloring menus for their kids since we weren't and they said it was their first time there and it wasn't mentioned as an option. Since this was our first time at this place as well, I'm not sure if this was just an isolated incident with our individual waitress or a bigger management issue but we won't be back...
