El Jaripeo — Restaurant in Canton

HIGHLY DISSAPOINTED. Not familiar with restaurants in canton but we wanted to get Mexican, and I trusted reviews from this place. 1st- pulling into the place there was no cars at 5pm. 2nd - other than Spanish music blaring very loudly, and some paper decor, it did not seem authentic. 3rd - the chips and "salsa" brought to the table were the most pathetic I've EVER SEEN. I was very confused when I looked at the "salsa" which was LITERALLY TOMATO WATER! You heard that right. Tomato water! The chips tasted like OLD OIL with a splash of corn paste. ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR. 4th - The waitress recommended the combo tacos which looked very different from the picture in the menu. They basically were "street tacos". Small tacos with a high price. They did have ok flavoring. My husband's meal was also sub par with flavor. 5th- The bathroom toilets looked like they weren't cleaned in a month to boot plus NO hot water. 3 stars for the waitress, she was very kind and very pregnant but also looked about 14, which was concerning. Not impressed at all! I should have known when there was no one in the place at 5pm. My rice was all color, dry and no flavor. The chicken on my taco salad was not proportionate to the amount of veggies dumped on top. Not to mention my grilled onions were burnt and left my whole taco salad tasting scorched. I asked her if it came with guacamole and she said yes, guess what didn’t come on my taco salad. Not only was the meal Terrible, it cost more than my normal restaurant! Next time I’ll take the trip to El Campesino! UPDATE: I called the store to let them know how dissatisfied I am with their food and I was told there’s nothing they can do. No offer to remake it, Credit or refund!! Please don’t eat here unless you like poor food quality...

I hate to give local places anything less than 5 stars but can't this time. The customer service was great. My food was ready quickly too. However, I can't justify the cost. I spent $17 on grilled chicken. The chicken tasted fine but the over all dish could use more queso. The rice was kinda bland. The salsa is too spicy. Although the pieces of chicken were large they were thin so upon first glance it looks like a large portion but actually isn't. Not for the price anyways. I don't know if the lack of business is the reason for the cost or if the cost is the reason for the lack of business. Either way, not worth it to me personally. I'd say their cost to make the dish is likely about $3 depending on their supplier so the mark up is...
