We went first thing in the morning to avoid the rush. We wanted to love it but it was a miss for us and sadly not up to par with the restaurant that used to be located here.
The not great. The pancakes here were dense and one note (sweet). Three of our 6 meals had pancakes. Both mine and my daughter’s were blueberry- unfortunately they weren’t cooked through. My daughter’s was raw around the berries, mine was just batter oozing out of it. Sent mine back, this time it was just raw around the berries (turn down the temp and let them cook longer or don’t offer them). The potatoes were varying levels of doneness but the real issue was the lack of seasoning. The kids had hot chocolate and they were so excited! But we didn’t think to ask for kid temp (not sure if they do that or not but some places do)- they burned their tongues. Staff may want to consider that when serving this to kids… or a warning that it’s HOT. Water is served room temperature- no ice. Our waitress didn’t tell us the specials (my husband would have gotten shrimp and grits). She also didn’t offer us ketchup or hot sauce or jelly. I may be old fashioned but I prefer to have a bill printed for review rather than an electronic device shoved in my face that only displays the total and not a breakdown of the bill. It’s also super awkward and off putting to have to select the tip amount in front of your server. Finally the dining room needs to be reorganized so customers can walk through it when it gets busy.
The good: the eggs were the best I’ve had at a restaurant. The English muffin and raisin bread toast were excellent (even though we ate them dry). The kids French toast sticks and fruit were great. The stuffed French toast was good. Bacon/sausage were both good fine. The prices are fair for the...
Read moreWe were looking forward to our first visit to Gather but unfortunately we’re disappointed! We came in and were greeted and seated immediately. The first thing I noticed were the seats were the very uncomfortable metal chairs that I actually avoid certain restaurants that use them. The woman who seated us allowed me to sit along the wall to give me more comfort which I appreciated! Our server came over and we ordered. She brought my coffee and cream, I didn’t see anything about specialty coffees on the menu, and I asked her for a spoon as we had no silverware. By the time she came back near our table my coffee was cold. I asked again for a spoon and a replacement which she took care of. The food came fairly quickly but unfortunately we were disappointed. My husband’s omelette was very overcooked in fact very brown. The home fries had one sweet potato. He asked for ketchup and our server forgot to bring it. I caught her eye while she was on the phone and mouthed we need ketchup and she brought it but he was more than half done. He had not been offered toast so when she brought the bill I asked if it came with toast and she said yes would you like it now? My food was ok, the avocado bacon and tomato grilled cheese with house made chips, but the chips were very overcooked and brown. We saw someone walking around talking to tables who may have been the owner but he was on his way out the door as it was close to closing and didn’t stop at our table. So, the other reviews were much better, it could have been we came...

Gather is primarily a breakfast restaurant but recently started serving dinner with a nightly special. If you don’t order the special, your only option is the breakfast menu. My friend chose the fried chicken, beans, and mashed potatoes—the special for the night. The menu said it came with two pieces of fried chicken, so we expected something substantial, like two thighs. Instead, they brought three very small pieces: two wings and a small drumstick. For $26, the portion felt disappointing. The mashed potatoes were also quite small, which didn’t help.
Gather doesn’t have a liquor license, so it’s BYOB, but they charge $17 for a non-alcoholic drink, which seems a bit excessive. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and it was mostly tortilla—not much filling and not very satisfying. Our total bill came to over $60, which felt far too high for what we got.
On the bright side, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was clean and warm, though a bit sterile. That said, good service and a clean space don’t make up for feeling ripped off. If a restaurant wants customers to come back or recommend them to friends, the food has to be worth the price, and unfortunately, this just wasn’t.
We won’t be returning, and I can’t...
