I’ve been enjoying this root beer stand since the late 1960’s. My family has a long tradition with the owners back in the day. As a young boy I would ride my bike from my grandparents house down to the root beer stand. I would get the quart take home size that was kind of like a milk carton shape that was tapered from the top to the bottom. It was always ice cold and had foam on top. Over the years when I would be in Canton visiting family, a trip to the root beer stand was a must. Ok fast forward to Saturday August 16th. Three SUV’s of our family stops for our traditional ice cold root beer. After spending $61.00+ for our drinks and a few cups of just ice water, some of us were completely disappointed. I for one didn’t even finish my root beer. The mugs are no longer ice cold, the root beer was cool and not cold and it had a very strong vanilla flavor. I could not get past the taste as from childhood to an adult now in my mid 60’s it had definitely changed and it’s not a good change. At one point my niece had walked up to the window to get a refill of her water, she was told that would be $0.50. She even took her original water cup and just wanted a refill on a 90+ degree summer afternoon. I told my family that I would go speak to the manager and was asked not to. I asked if she got her water refilled and she said that for $0.50 she was not going to. So much for tradition, so much for keeping recipes that stood the test of time. I’ve enjoyed this business for over 60 years of my life that my father, brother, myself and other family members have enjoyed. I even remember the cement floor sink like area where they use to make the root beer in back in the 60’s. My next trip to Ohio, I now live in Tennessee, will not have a special stop at the root beer stand. I guess A&W Root Beer from the grocery store will have to do next time I visit...

I usually have a good experience when I come to Woody’s, but today I was not pleased. I arrived at 12:40 PM & only wanted to order one item, a root beer float. I understand that you have a lot of customers, but when I park my car and leave my lights on as instructed for service, it shouldn’t take 15 mins for someone to come over and take my order. There were cars that pulled up after me that had their order taken before mine. The only reason my order was taken is because I had to put my hand out the window and flag somebody down. Altogether, it took about 25 mins for me to get one root beer float. When it was brought to me, the lid was halfway off and it was dripping down the side. Very disappointed in...

Great service! Had to get to the root beer stand at least once this summer. This trip sadly left much to be desired. We will be traveling to kenmore’s B&K sometime this week to compare. Coney sauce was a bit bitter and tasted scorched like the bottom of the crock pot. Same sauce as the sloppy joes. Ordered a plain dog for the grand baby with a side of ketchup. Not sure why or how but it was covered in relish. The root beer is still as good as we remembered. The fried mushrooms were overly breaded, tasted barely cooked (very much like flour/bread crumbs) and the Mushy’s inside weren’t...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Woody’s is summer bottled in glass and topped with frosty foam. Pull up, window down, and the carhop glides over with a tray like it’s 1955 but the flavor’s still 10/10 today. The birch-sweet root beer hits first, then the vanilla ice cream sinks in and you remember why floats were invented in the first place. Pro tip: grab a side of onion rings, park under the striped awning, and watch the world slow to a syrupy fizz. I’ve added a few photos- classic neon, a to-go float and a shot of the stand in the hot summer sun-to tempt you off the freeway. Canton nostalgia at its tastiest. Cheers! 🍻

Born in Canton & have never been to Woody's. 😲 This was my Aunt & Uncle's 1st time out since COVID. Figured eating in the car on a nice day would be perfect start. My double cheeseburger with lettuce & tom was pretty tasty & the peanut butter shake had a perfect Viscosity to drink it through the straw. Aunt & Uncle used to be regulars & got their favorite, sloppy Joes. I been told I need to try the Root Beer nxt time. Bell hops did a great job running between vehicles & the shop. PLEASE, keep an eye on them when moving ur vehicle!
