Schlotzsky's — Restaurant in Canyon

My service and food experience was fine but there was a major problem that we noticed. I've eaten here several times without issue, but this really disappointed and even angered me. After we placed our order, we saw a high school sports bus arrive. The staff did as well. We overheard them discussing whether or not to tell them they were closed and to "just go home." They didn't do it, to my knowledge (we left shortly after they entered) but I feel as though this was rude, lazy, and highly unprofessional. I understand that this was an away team. I understand that they were 30 minutes until close (it was 7:30 & they closed at 8). But still... There was less than 15-20 of them. Schlotzky's management should reach out to the Andrew's Mustangs girls basketball team (Texas) and apologize, as well as offer some compensation. I understand that there's a labor shortage, we're in a college town, all of it. Management needs to address this issue though. I'm only giving 3 stars because the food is delicious, or else I would be giving a 1 or 2 star review. We found out as we were walking in ( by a sign on the side window ) kids eat free on Saturday. Went in and ordered our food. You needed to get a medium drink and chip with your entree to get the free kids meals. We got small drinks and chips, unaware at the time we needed mediums. The cashier didn't even ask what size we needed she just gave us cups. We paid full price and looked afterwards to see that we didn't get the discount and when asked why she said we didn't order medium drinks..you didn't even give us an option??in my opinion that's bad business practice especially if you're trying to promote your business with free kids meals on Saturday. I have to say tonight we had the best customer service we have ever had. I made the mistake of calling another store, the one in Canton, Texas instead of Canyon, Texas and placed my order with them. When my husband showed up to pick up our order they did not have it, I quickly realized my mistake. Technically the store had just closed as it was right at 8:00 but the person inside was gracious enough to still take our order. They all deserve raises. They took our order when they did not have to. I can't express enough appriciation for them making our sandwiches. You guys...
