Extremely disappointing. This was our last night of a 10 day vacation & we chose Doc Ford’s as our last meal before we take off tomorrow. We were looking forward to a delicious meal especially after reading some of the reviews. The hostess, Irina, is definitely not in the right job. Let’s just say the whole check in & be seated process was a hot mess. We had to ask the manager for assistance after being told to step to the side & wait. After 20 minutes & seeing others - who did not have a reservation- be seated we were irritated. We were finally seated & realized we did not have menus or place settings. We asked for menus & received a cocktail menu only. After another 5 minutes we asked for dinner menus from our server. He could tell things were not going well & wanted to make it right. He was very busy & we knew to cut him some slack as he had way too many tables. We finally ordered drinks and appetizers. The drinks arrived about 10 minutes later. It was going on 30 minutes & we had not received our appetizers of Buffalo shrimp & crab cakes. While we were waiting it became clear that the table behind us was stinking up the place. It was so bad we had to go speak with our server about moving. We were considering leaving but there was a storm & it was already after 8:30. We were moved to another table. Our appetizers arrived a few minutes later but it was the wrong order so they were sent back. A few minutes later the Buffalo shrimp arrived but they were hot & not mild as ordered so we ended up downing all of our drinks as our mouths were on fire. The crab cakes never showed up. Our entrees arrived & looked great. Unfortunately, only the Yucatán shrimp & the shrimp tacos were ok. Not great - just ok. The Shrimp & Grits had zero flavor. Was worried about them being too spicy - nope. As plain & bland as could be. The Mahi dish was not edible as it was pure salt/soy. The entire experience was a disaster. From the check in to the stinky folks next to us to not receiving our orders to the entrees being sub par. Just very disappointing. The only bright spot was our server, Chris.

What a great restaurant. If you have never been you must try, they have 5 locations through out SWFL. Our server Jade was excellent very attentive but not a helicopter server. We had crab cakes, calamari, clam chowder and conch chowder to start. All of which were delish and excellent. The crab cakes were served with a granny Smith apple slaw which really enhanced the crab cakes. Calamari was plentiful enough for 4 people to share and cooked to perfection. The soups...we have not had a good conch chowder since we were in the Bahamas, Docs was perfect. The clam chowder is not the traditional thick white New England style it was broths, buttery and delish as well. Our entrees was of course the fried grouper sandwich with sweet potato fries...so delish a must have!! Also the Yucatan Shrimp tacos with black beans and yellow rice. The Yucatan Shrimp is a big headliner on the menu, I don't particularly go for peel and eat, so we did the tacos which were light, tasty and loaded with shrimp. The rice and beans had great flavor and prepared just right. We were so full but we took dessert to go for later, the carrot cake and the bread pudding both had a beautiful presentation and I'm sure keeping with the taste and quality of the rest of our food will be DELISH!! Highly recommend and we will be back!! Thanks Jade for your service!

Overall food was good, but the food wait time was Ridiculous 2 hours after being seated outside before 5pm. I had the snapper wrapped in Banana leaf which was excellent!!!. Table had the buffalo shrimp appetizer which was tasty, but only 5 shrimp for $11. Kids meals were good. In my Opinion Restaurants have to be a tune to getting in and out within an hour after being seated. Also the waiter and manager were very apologetic the and covered story was kitchen was backup(I think they lost our order), since the waiter told me at least 3-4 times our food was on the way. Waiter offered us a “BiG” bread basket, which was a Nice gesture, but he never bought the Bread basket or cheesy bread I ordered for the kids since they were getting Anxious. Maybe because our food arrived about 10mins later at 7:14pm and they were being cheap with the bread. Waiter should’ve of just brought the bread basket. Manger only offered an excuse for the kitchen mixup and delay. Would have been nicer if you had just said yeah we lost her order and apologize. It was only one adult meal and two kids meals.

Worst meal EVER!!! It was supposed to be an enjoyable holiday meal with my wife but thanks to Doc Ford's it wasn't. It is pretty bad when the best thung we had to eat tonight was the the wedge salad. My wife ordered the Prime Rib on the Thanksgiving menu and asked for it medium well. Well needless to say it came out medium rare. When we called over Asst. Mgr. Caesar and told him the problem he had the nerve to say that the Prime Rib and I quote " is made in big batches and it is all the same medium rare and you can't get medium well." Our server Jake was even puzzled by that answer. He went back to the kitchen and spoke to the Kitchen Mgr. and was told the customer can get the Prime Rib however they want it and that they will redo the meal. While all that was going on I started eating my meal. I ordered the "Island Style Shrimp and Grits. The grits were supposed to be cheesy jalapeno grits. They we're terrible. They were dry and lumpy with NO cheese or jalapeno flavor at all. Well, it keeps going downhill from here. Jake brings out the 2nd try on the Prime Rib for my wife. The meat was done perfectly but now the twiced baked potato is cold and the green beans were under cooked. 1 take out box later we left and will not be back. Doc Ford's needs to take a hard look at their management and...
