Was excited to try this place for the first time. The pictures looked great and the menu sounded amazing. When I pulled in, there were only two cars in the lot, so I figured the food would be fresh since they’re open late and not busy.
When I walked in, I was greeted by trophies and awards saying they have the best food. The waitress took me to my seat, and I noticed a strong smell of cleaning product, but I didn’t think much of it.
I ordered the BBQ pulled chicken sandwich, but it came out with no BBQ sauce and no side of pickles like the menu described. The waitress took my plate back, and when it came back, the sauce was just drizzled on top. I asked for an extra side of BBQ sauce (since the menu said the chicken would be tossed in it), but she said the BBQ sauce is on the table already. After I went ahead and poured that sauce on my sandwich and added my own pickles, she came back a few minutes later with a side of the “Rich & Sassy” BBQ sauce — the one that was supposed to be on my sandwich to begin with saying “sorry I didn’t know they took this one off the table”.
I was also excited for the side of green beans, which were supposed to have bacon and jalapeño. Instead, there were maybe four tiny bits of bacon (not even a full slice’s worth), and I’m not sure there were any jalapeños at all. The green beans didn’t taste fresh, and the chicken wasn’t actually pulled, it was just large chunks.
We also ordered Dave’s Sassy BBQ Salad, and toward the end realized it was supposed to have bacon, which it didn’t.
On top of that, the table pamphlet said if I downloaded the app, I’d get a free sandwich and side. I figured I’d do it tonight, but the manager told me it’s only for my next visit. The pamphlet didn’t say that anywhere, and unfortunately, there won’t be...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. We started out strong in the beginning of our visit but quickly went down hill. It wasn’t even that busy for a Saturday night. We ordered our appetizer and it took 20 minutes to get. We got the burnt tips which were good. I just didn’t see how 5 little pieces of meat took 20 minutes. We ordered the family feast that costs $65. Which for the amount of food the menu said it was is actually a good price for 4 people. We even ordered pulled pork because the menu only let you choose pork or brisket and we wanted both to try. We then get our food and no plates. A few minutes later our plates came out but only 3 of them we had four people. That fourth plate took about 5 minutes to get. Everything looked amazing but then we started digging in and man was it dry. Also the portion of pork we got was tablespoon full for $3.99. We were told that was three ounces. She walked away and never brought us any condiments. We had to flag her down for ketchup for the extra salty fries. The corn was old and dried(asked for butter never got it) chicken was dry. Our waitress never came to check on us or bring us refills of our drinks. We then asked to speak to the manager. Explained the issues and he didn’t even care. Told us he would make it right. All he did was send us out a extra portion of fatty pulled pork. He took $10 off a $100 bill. He never even came back to see how we were doing. We will never be going back to this restaurant and will not be giving any recommendations to friends and family to try...
Read moreThis place was busy noisy and smelled great. The people were ohhh so friendly and helpful. Now the food. its was ok. The sauce on the side was called Devil Spit. Not a fan too much vinegar though was hot.. I prefer the sweet and hot style sauces. They also chopp all the food after its cooks so its like a hamburger. I preferred my brisket sliced. Taste was good. I guess just my taste buds are different. The side of the green bean were Outstanding love it. Corn bread reminded me of Boston Market. It was GOOD. They also deliver and have a quick take out service. Good but not great. I guess I am spoiled of the mom and pop style places in the Bay area.
Update - 11/4/2012 Well I wish to thank all the Floridians for their lack of knowing great inexpensive bbq. Because of you I got a buy one get one free for my birthday. My bill came to a even $18.00. So $9.00 for each combo plate. Not so bad. :-) .....
I see why it is pricey. Small portions. The nice black plastic take home dish. Though the small side order container is a fracking hard to open.
The crew is nice, hardworking, and quick. Place is very clean.
I thought the tips and pulled pork was very good, as far a a fast food goes. I enjoyed the hot links.
Wilbur beans were tasty also the corn muffins, greens beans and cole slaw. The potatoe salad not so much.
I see why the masses come here. So keep up the good work and maintaining a profit.
