RC Otter's Island Eats — Restaurant in Cape Coral

Stopped into this place on 3/25 around 8:20 am. We were taking a boat tour across the street and I wanted to pick up some breakfast to go. It took about 10 minutes for anyone to even notice me as I stood waiting for the hostess (who made eye contact with me while I was walking up and quickly vanished before speaking with me).

Finally, a waitress approached me (I had grabbed a menu by this time from the hostesses podium so I knew what I wanted. I asked for my order to go, that was fine with the waitress. I told her I wanted the egg sandwich and she said "two eggs" I said "it comes with two eggs on it" then she said "do you want two sandwiches?" no I said, just one to go. Waitress told me that my order would be ready in about 5 minutes (only two tables had people at them). She asked me to follow her to pay inside at the bar, which I did. After paying, she told me to go stand back outside to wait for my food. Fine. I was happy to do that (covid etc.). So, I stood there and stood there and stood there.

I kept referencing the time, as I had to get to the marina for our boat tour (across the street). Finally, a man approached me (another waitress or the cook maybe). He asked me if I wanted to be seated, no I told him ... I was just waiting for my to-go order, he said "it's been sitting up at the bar for about 10 minutes ... seriously, I said ... I was told to stand out here and wait!!!! He apologized but really there is no excuse for this at all. They were NOT busy at all (only two tables with two people at each table and one man walked into the bar and ordered a drink).

It's highly inconsiderate, rude, and clueless to forget to bring an order out to the customer you told to go wait outside.

On a positive note, the sandwich was huge and I split it with my husband. It also tasted good. The breakfast potatoes were pretty good too.

Now if they can get their service issues figured out things might look up...

Our family came in for lunch, excited to be back to Captiva for the first time in several years. RC Otters’ atmosphere was delightful with the live music and Jimmy Buffet feel. Food was excellent, above par compared to other neighboring restaurants we frequent. Service- began as satisfactory, ended with rude remarks and attitude from server Michaela after requesting separate checks. Party of 5- four adults and one child. It was lunch time- so nothing crazy on the bill- just needed two to be separate then the rest on one. When asked to separate- our response was a rude ‘Can’t read your mind!’ We were dumbfounded. Not one of us said a word until she left. The comments that followed were equally as condescending and sarcastic. Her tip reflected those remarks. With two fine-dining servers in a highly-visited tourist area being among the guests dining at her table, her comments were beyond unprofessional, they were uncalled for. It may be time to hang it up, and find something else that doesn’t make one so miserable, or seem so by the customers who have the unfortunate luck of being seated in her section. We came to eat a good meal and experience a beachy, fun atmosphere- not be subjected to unnecessary verbal harassment by...

After reading all the reviews we were excited to try it.....too bad we did! Our waitress, Angie, took a very long time to acknowledge us and when we put our order in for 2 coffees, a hot chocolate and 4 waters. We waited and waited while tables which were sat after us received their beverages and food ahead of us. Finally, 2 of the entrees were delivered. My husband asked for our beverages...jokingly says if it's just one glass with 4 straws, that would work. Norbert, other waiter, brought us a water with 4 condiment cups....funny! Still no coffee or water. after my husband and son's girlfriend finished their entrees, my son's and mine arrived....still no beverages. Angie comes by to "check on us " and to top off our coffee...."Angie we still need our coffee and water." What a disaster. the food was NOTHING SPECIAL. My scrambled eggs weren't scrambled.....they were dumped in a frying pan and cooked like an overdone pancake. "Served with fruit and potatoes"....means a wedge of pineapple and orange slice and 6 pieces of potatoes. We went at 9:30..the restaurant wasn't even that busy. Save your self the aggravation,,,,, There are so many other places to spend your vacation...
