Olive's Pitaria — Restaurant in Cape Girardeau

What can I say about Olive's Pitaria – Cape Girardeau's Mediterranean Gem???? Long post but so worth it!!!! I've waited 3 weeks to finally get the chance to come here. Had no other reason to drive 30 miles to Cape other than to come here! I'm so glad I did!

Cape finally has the Mediterranean restaurant we’ve been waiting for! Olive Pitaria is a beautiful blend of authentic flavor, heart, and hospitality. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like we were part of the family; warm, welcoming, and clearly proud of what they serve.

Let’s start with the baba ghanoush. I’ve eaten a lot of baba ghanoush in my life, and let me tell you; this was hands-down some of the best I’ve ever had. Silky smooth, smoky, and seasoned to perfection. It’s worth the visit for that alone!

We ordered the shish tawook entrée, and even my 8-year-old daughter couldn’t get enough. She loved every bite and kept saying how flavorful everything was, which, coming from a kid, is the highest praise!

But the real showstopper? The dolmas. Perfectly pickled grape leaves wrapped around a rice filling that was absolutely delectable. They were so well balanced! bright, tangy, and deeply satisfying. I’m still thinking about them.

MY 8 year old & I ordered a lot of food bc I wanted to try everything I could 😆 so on top of the above mentioned we ordered: The Creamy rich hummus, Crisp and refreshing green salad, Soft, warm pita, Cool, herby tzatziki, Crunchy, golden falafel

Every single item was made with obvious care and attention. The drinks were just as impressive. we had the mint lemonade and the hibiscus drink, both bursting with fresh, vibrant flavor.

The atmosphere? Relaxed, cozy, and inviting. The menu was easy to navigate, the prices were totally fair for the quality and portions, and the dessert selection sealed the deal. You can taste the owner's love in every recipe. it’s clear they pour their heart into the kitchen.

Mediterranean food is my absolute favorite, and I’m thrilled that Cape now has a spot that does it justice. Olive Pitaria is going to be our go-to from now on. We’ll definitely be back and we’ll be bringing friends

They are so friendly and helpful !! The food is amazing!! I have tried so many things!! The mint lemonade and feta melon salad. The Baklava was very fresh and soft yummy Food was amazing and very refreshing!!! Happy to have a Mediterranean place back in Cape!! The Fetamelon salad was so wonderful and the flavors blended so well together with the watermelon, walnuts, mint, honey and feta!! The mint lemonade was a favorite of mine! But I tried the heavenly hibiscus drink tonight and it had such a great flavor!!! Both of the drinks were so refreshing!! I have had the mixed grill of the lamb and the chicken and enjoyed them both. I sampled the rice and the baba ghanoush and really liked them. I also had the house salad and absolutely loved the dressing and the tomato and cucumber toppings!!! Very light and flavorful !! If you haven’t tried it, do yourself a favor and go check it out!! They have a patio for seating and it is very enjoyable and right across the street from the Semo...

I had the mint lemonade and the gyro with fries and everything is top tier. The mint lemonade is fantastic and refreshing, I’m fairly sure it’s made with actual lemons which blew me away. The gyro is next level, I’ve been patiently waiting for a place to come along and fill the gap that Zoi’s left and this is hands down the place. All of the ingredients were super fresh, the feta was on point, the pita was soft and flavorful, and the tzatziki sauce was quite possibly some of the best if not the best I’ve ever tasted. This place will definitely be getting my business and everyone in the area should give it a try. My only complaint is that they aren’t open more often and I was told that, that will be changing in the coming weeks, they’re currently open Fridays and Saturdays but will soon be adding Thursdays to their hours of operation.
