Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri — Local services in Cape Girardeau

I believe Calvin is amazing person and he does his job well. To those who want to say things about him you may want to take and read this and utilize it and try to understand from his point of view. My husband and I relocated here from Rolla Missouri and we were been homeless and we wanted to start over. We call him across community partnership and Calvin who was our case manager. I believe he wants to see people help yourself. Even when people don't have jobs he's still on help. My husband and I both got jobs and we come to him and he has blessed us helped us because we are trying to help ourselves. Life's not easy but do the right thing and quit blaming other people and put in the work because if you don't things ain't going to work out your way and nothing changes. He's willing to help anybody. But he can't do it all. Community partnership Calvin in the program has been such a blessing to us. I was told they have meals there from 11am -12 noon. Plus they have laundry facilities to wash your clothes,etc. & showers to clean up if needed. But,when I went there and asked if I could get a meal,they brought me some canned goods & box food,and a pack of tuna. I appreciated these items,but when you have no place to cook or no utilities,it's not too helpful for a hungry stomach. If they do serve warm meals in the daytime,they need to post it on front door or tell you they do not have food there. So,needless to say,I had to go without until I got somewhere to heat some food up in a microwave. It really was a good gesture,but didn't fill my hunger need right away. Hopefully they will get better as the transition to their new place gets easier and more...

I guess we're the wrong color. Called and was told rental assistance was available. We got up there to apply and was told they didn't have anything available and to check back at the end of the month. Really? We might not have a place to live at the end of the month! Yet, people who are a different color were getting lots of assistance. All these places are the same. DAEOC, Community Partnership, all the same. They help who they want to help, and you'd better be the right color or you won't even get to fill out an application. Southeast Missouri is the worst place in the world to need help because there's not any unless you're dark skinned. Even faith-based organizations will turn you down. This place is...
