TL;DR: There are better places to eat downtown but this is not a bad choice. We stopped in on New Years Eve for lunch. Of note, they serve rolls with a unique strawberry butter. I didn't like strawberry, but it was ok. So if you do appreciate strawberry you may like it. I had a Reuben (my go to for new restaurant). It was OK. Not spectacular but not bad. Overall my main complaint was heavy on the thousand Island. My wife had a Po'Boy. She loved it. My mother-in-law seconded the sentiment. My father-in-law had the baby back ribs. They looked more like a regular order of ribs. My daughter had the Cubano (ham/pulled pork sandwich) which she enjoyed without the honey mustard. While the food was overall good, the service was abysmal. We got drinks when the rolls arrived and we got refills after our food arrived. My drink was sitting empty for a while and so we're others. The atmosphere to me embodies downtown Cape and reminds me of many places in the area. The bar side stays open much later than the restaurant side (we were told there is no definite closing time). If the service matched the quality of the food this would be a great place to eat.

Comfortable seats, good music, nice atmosphere. 🍔 We ordered the poutine as an appetizer. Slices of brisket on top, cheese and gravy over seasoned fries. Comes with pickled red onions which I got on the side. Delicious. The fries are fairly salty though, so order with that in mind. My wife got the pork tenderloin. Comes with two sides. Mac n cheese is awesome. The tenderloin had a BBQ mustard sauce. It looked like a thin clear red wine sauce but has explosive flavor. I ordered the blackened blue burger. Bleu cheese, caramelized red onion jam and garlic mayo. Tremendous flavor. The bleu cheese was underwhelming in flavor but some like that. One of the best burgers I've had in Cape. Menu is very interesting. Dec 2022 update.. We ordered the same thing.. But that burger was even better. It's the best in Cape in my opinion.

We went for our anniversary lunch and everything was ok. Service was ok. Food was ok. Hubby had the prime rib sammy and onion rings. He paid extra for cheese and peppers. The cheese was invisible and there maybe was a tablespoon of peppers. The prime rib was thick cut not shaved as explained by our server. I had the catfish and potatoes. The only winner was the catfish. It was tasty. The place is old and needs a good cleaning. A lot of dust bunnies on the ceiling just waiting to drop in your food. Our server was nice just didn't check on us very much. We didn't have our drinks refilled for the longest time. We were all excited after reading the reviews however for us this experience left a lot to be desired. Probably won't be coming back.

I booked an event up stairs at Port Cape with a nice girl named Amber. There were contracts that clearly stated all the terms of who was getting paid and how much they were getting paid. They were flat rates, not percentages and it was their policy to do it that way. At the end of the night, a very drunk and aggressive owner (Doc Cain) pulled me by my shoulders (assault?) into a side room upstairs and drunkenly screamed "I'm taking that money!!!!" with many slurred and drunk profanities included over and over. I tried to reason with him, and show him the contracts that his daughter had signed with me. He wanted nothing to do with that and demanded (more like threatened) me to "Take that damn money out of your pocket because I'm taking half of it!" again with more profanities and slurred words. Have I mentioned how drunk he was yet? Eventually several of my friends, including my mother, saw what was happening and kicked the door open. Doc then called me many names including a "Bastard" and a "Mother F*er" in front of my mother. We stood our ground and he got nothing more from us than what he was contracted to.

Point of this, the staff at Port Cape was very nice and helped us tremendously. Even Doc's daughter was very helpful in letting us upstairs to measure the stage and get set up before the event. But the night of, she wasn't there. We tipped the staff that helped us, but gave the very intoxicated owner nothing other then what the contract said he was owed. Doc Cain was a nightmare to work with as a business person and I would never subject my family or anyone else's to any thing he had anything to do with. This isn't the 1950's anymore Doc, you can't be a drunk mess and try to rob people and think no one will ever know.

I can give you the names of 5 people that watched this event occur. If you are in a group looking to book anything with this place, please contact me before you do so. I would be happy to refer to several other much nicer places in...

Well, where do I begin. I've been to Port Cape several times and never have I received such horrible service and food. There were 5 wait staff milling around 5 customers there when we arrived for lunch. There were 7 of us. After being seated and getting our drinks we ordered some sandwiches, wings and sliders. No rolls or other bread was ever brought to the table. After 25 minutes without our server (or anyone else) coming to check on us I walked around and found out server and asked what was taking so long. She said she'd check. Another 5 minutes and she came back to the table and said they were waiting on the sliders. Another 10 minutes went by and I got up to walk into the kitchen to see what was going on. Just as I got to the door they brought our order around the corner. 40 minutes for 4 sandwiches, wings, potato skins and mac and cheese. Did I mention the sandwiches were not hot when we got them? They set our food down and left. No offer of refills or apologies for the wait. I asked to speak with the manager. The manager wasn't there. (Surprise, surprise) They called him and he apparently drove down. When he got there he asked what the issue was. I explained the situation and how waiting 40 minutes for a meal and not getting any refills or bread was not what I considered "good service". Considering the fact that the other customers appeared to have already been served, we were the only ones waiting for food.

The manager disagreed with me. Saying that 40 minutes for a party of 7 WAS acceptable and they weren't a "fast food" restaurant and asked what I wanted him to do. He then offered us icecream.

I paid the check and we left. Won't be back...

I feel like I need to explain this 3 star. The food was INCREDIBLE 5 stars for the food...when we finally got it. Our server was Lacey. She was thin with brown hair, glasses and blue plugs in her ears. We arrived at 1:10 p.m. and it was very busy but we were in no hurry so didn't mind. We were promptly sat at our table at 1:15 it took about 5 minutes before she greeted us and took our drink order and another 5 minutes to fill the drinks. Again, it was busy, didn't bother us, we understood. We were ready to order by the time we got our drinks but she said I'll be right back. Well that right back took about 15 minutes. She was dealing with a rather large table that kept her busy trying to leave.(as a server myself, I understood) she finally came over and took out food order. By this time the majority of the restaurant had cleared out.It took 45 minutes for our food to come out for reference we had a brisket sandwich, chicken breasts, kids pizza and kids chicken tenders. Then she disappeared again. Never apologized for the wait while waiting for the food and I had to catch a different server at the register (who was very nice) to pull my ticket so we could pay to leave. We spent an hour and a half to have what we thought would be a quick downtown meal. We saw several servers running around, cleaning, filling drinks and rolling silverware but ours was always mia. Also our side's were cold which tells me it sat for some time before...
