Pizza My Heart — Restaurant in Capitola

So I was excited to try this place as I had gone to the Santa Barbara location many times before and have never been let down (I seriously drive from LA to SB just for PMH). The food was great! But customer service is seriously lacking. Here's what sucks about it it's an order in place only so there's no room to sit and enjoy your food while still having access to the condiments. Sure you can go to the beach or you can eat at the very small counter but not much else. Here's where it gets worse, there was about a 20 to 25 minute wait to order pizza (not that I really minded because the food is great) but on top of that I had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the pizza that I ordered only for them to get it wrong and then another 15 minutes to get the correct order. Here is how it went; So I place my order with the employee and she goes to the computer to put in my order only for her to forget it. Now this is not usually a problem if she hadn't of asked me to repeat it about 3 times before she could finally get it together and exercise some memory retention. I ordered one pizza at a time, I tried my best to communicate in a simple manner she'd understand. I guess I didn't try hard enough because when I got my order, they put the wrong toppings. Usually id pick it off and eat it anyway but I paid 32$ per pizza so that wasn't going to happen. So my boyfriend notified the person who looked in charge to let her know they got the order wrong. She looks him in the eyes and says "okay?" And stays quiet. Doesn't even offer to make it right. Seriously?! So he has to ask her to make it correctly and she gets the correct order but rolls her eyes as she does so. Definitely a sucky experience and as much as I love PMH I definitely will not be coming back to this location. Santa Barbara set expectations high for food and customer service. First the good: Pizza my heart was highly recommended to us by some family. The pizza was delicious and the white tshirt that gets you a free pizza slice which is a good deal too.

The Bad TLDR: poor service, absent minded staff, lack of courtesy towards customers.

The bad: visited the 26th about 15 minutes before close without realizing they closed so early. Walked up to the counter and was talking with the lady behind the counter getting some questions answered. As we tried to order two people walked into the store (they have a confusing setup of two counters with one behind the other), and the woman working immediately ignores us and takes their order instead. Then let’s us know they won’t be making anymore pizza and there wasn’t enough for our party to grab a slice for each of us. Local friends let us know that must’ve been a fluke incident which is forgivable as I know how closing can be. Visited again today, same woman working and takes our order, while we are waiting for them to reheat the slices two more people come up to order and wait outside, without ever getting help until I motioned to them that inside was where they’d get service. They burnt our pizza to a crisp and had to make us more, which left us waiting a long time. There was no excuse for it to burn since the two woman in back were talking and watching the oven while the woman working the counter was sitting there on her phone with us right in front of her. Awesome pizza. My family came to visit Capitola and take pictures of the beautiful beach and colorful houses nearby. Pizza My Heart caught our eyes as we were walking around.

We ordered the following: 🏆 Big Sur - it has been the two time world champion best pizza! So we had to try. Indeed there’s a reason why it is a winner 🍍 Maui Wowie - if you love Pineapple pizza / Hawaiian pizza, you Must order this. It’s the best we’ve ever had. It was a Hit 🥓 D’Lex Chicken and Bacon - for meat lovers

What stood out to us has been the fact that the crust is thin and they cook the pizza right in the oven for you. If you ordered individual slices they should come out of the oven in 2-3 min. The staff know what they are doing.

The pizza is great to eat while walking along the beach. There are no indoor seating, but plenty of benches and the whole beach to sit and eat. Our family stood outside, huddled around in a circle, and took turns taking a bite of each pizza. We loved it.
