Rudeness overload We are visiting in the area for 2 weeks. We love to bicycle & check out breweries. We rode the Rio Grande Trail in to Carbondale from Glenwood Springs, 12 mile ride. We asked if the patio was dog friendly before assuming it was okay to bring our teacup chihuahua to the table. They are dog friendly, even have an outside tent area. Service was a bit slow outside and they don’t have any actual menus, you use your phone to scan the menu. I didn’t have my phone along, so I put my mask on & went in to the bar to see what beers they had & brought us each a pint. We engaged in nice conversation (socially distant) with another couple outside. It was an alright experience. The next day we are on the Rio Grande Trail again, Carbondale to Basalt and back to Carbondale. We decide to stop at Carbondale Beer Works again. I parked my bike next to the patio which was a mistake! Kid comes out and corrects me, tells me to use the bike rack. Okay, no problem, I move my bike. We are removing our bike gear, helmet, gloves, etc & the same kid comes back out lecturing us that we can’t come in if we don’t have masks on properly. We are still outside on the sidewalk haven’t even stepped in yet & he reiterates again about masks. We have masks, we certainly have no problem wearing masks everywhere that they are required. I don’t wear one while I’m riding my bike. This kid from Carbondale Beer Works was so rude the way he spoke to us though we both just said “nope” not giving this place anymore of our business. A lesson in customer service, respect & kindness needs to be addressed. Mask shaming certainly isn’t going to help your business. Why not wait and watch me put my mask on, correctly I might add, before giving an unnecessary lecture. I think this is the first negative experience I’ve ever had at a brewery and the first negative “mask up” scenario I’ve ever had. Check out Ball Brewing a few miles away for a better experience! And, it’s right off...
Read moreNever been to Carbondale. Maybe I drove through years ago, but sorta doubt it. It is out of the way of where I am 99.99% of the time, but finally had a chance to come through on a weekend in Glenwood. The girlfriend and I actually specifically bookmarked Carbondale Beer Works to visit, and was our first stop in town.
Beautiful day to visit: warm for May, bright sun, a slight breeze in the early afternoon that brought through the aroma of cooked meats and hops right onto a patio that was built for just chillin' out on. Which we did.
We wandered indoors and were warmly greeted by a smiling bartender who said "everything is still on tap, nothing is out, let me know if you want to sample anything!" Killlleerrrrr. We ordered a wit and a red ale and wandered outside.
This dreadlocked, tall dude comes outside to greet us again and hand us menus. Guy was laidbacked (maybe on beer, maybe on whatever else is legal in the area), but chill and polite and nice and informative and prompt and and and...well...just fit the bill for letting us hang. Nothing worse than a server who is always there and overly-talkative and all that jazz.
Ordered a torta, was tasty as hell. Beer was tasty as hell. Dreads Waiter was on the spot with new beers and hot sauces for the torta. An hour+ went by in the blink of an eye, and unfortunately, we had to roll out. I was driving, but the girlfriend had a few beers and was loving each one.
Should have filled a growler... damn it.
As said before, never been through again, unsure if/when I will ever be through again, but if I am, coming back. And I better not have to...
Read moreService was great. Our waitress/bar tender was kind and prompt. This place was adorable and very welcoming. The beer was good, even if they were out of sour beers. The food was decent, not the best Ive ever had but the french fries were well seasoned and crisp. My only complaint would be another patron. My family sat next to another table, right in the very center of the restaurant. Next to gentleman and his toddler daughter. Right after we ordered our food we noticed his little girl had a pretty nasty cough. They were bith super kind people but I couldn't help but over hear the Dad tell the waitress that his daughter "has a really bad cough and she's coming down with something" laternhe even elaborated on how she was "really sick". At this point we had already ordered, we were drinking our beer. Come on dude...m have you not heard of the pandemic? Your daughter is super sick so you decided to bring her to anplace everyone HAS to take off their masks to eat and drink???
Of course it isnt like the waitress could tell the man who was already almost done with his meal he had to leave. I dont thing there really was anything she could do. Just super sucked for my family to hear that on day one of our vacation. And lucky me, with rhe auto immune condition I caught the cold. I spebt my vacation sick and got my 5 year old son sick too. Its a week later and I'm home on oxygen hoping to stay out of the hospital.
Guess the moral of the story is if you're the sick patron stay home. If you're the business, maybe try to move the sick family to a table far away from everyone else, if...
