La Placita Carniceria Y Taqueria Carbondale — Restaurant in Carbondale

I was so excited to see a real taqueria coming to town in this space, and I was so happy to go in and try it for the first time the other day. The food is excellent! Extremely well made and you can tell there is a lot of care that is taken in making good traditional tacos which I really felt we needed. The groceries for sale are also fantastic and it is a great place to stock up on good food as well. I have now been twice and each time it is a kind and welcoming place to go. It almost feels like you're part of the family there and it really is shining as a great gem to our "local food scene". I had both chicken and steak tacos and both were incredibly excellent. I am so thankful for the folks at La Placita for opening their doors and providing such a wonderful place to have a very good homemade tasting meal. I will 100% be supporting them as much as I can and I ask that everyone else in town show them some love too, its going to be a local institution...

We got the birria on a Sunday (they have this on the weekends) and it was excellent, but there is some fatty meat in there. It is $16, so more expensive than most other items on the menu. The tacos are $3.99 each. We got carnitas, chorizo, barbacoa, and steak. They are served with cilantro and onion, and are served in house-made corn tortillas. The grocery element of this place is great—an amazing hot sauce selection, cool Mexican ice creams and drinks, a bevy of Mexican snacks, even tortilla presses and some Mexican pottery. I love this place. 100% authentic Mexican cooking. Every time I get tacos to go, I wish I ordered more because the fresh made corn tortillas are so damn good. They have a great selection of high quality beef cuts which is great to see in the valley. Fresh chicharonnes, jarritos, tostadas, they have it all. The owners and employees are awesome!
