Quatro's Deep Pan Pizza — Restaurant in Carbondale

My boyfriend and I drove over 6 hours to check out this town as a prospect for moving to and researched ahead of time, who had the best Italian beef sandwich in town. Quatro's was the overwhelming answer, so we decided to give it a try. Since we came from the South where Italian beef sandwiches are pretty much impossible to find, we had some pretty high expectations. The only real experience I have had in the past was a sandwich from a trip to Chicago a few years ago and could not have expected anything even close to that. Quatro's blew that experience out of the water. When we arrived, it was a much easier experience than a few other places in town. We simply grabbed a booth and, within a couple of minutes, had menus and our drinks to the table. The server was extremely friendly and helpful in helping us select the best options for each of us. (We both added provolone cheese, and he chose hot giardinieria while I chose mild.) The food was PHENOMENAL! We ate every single bite. I think it may have been the best sandwich I have had in a very long time. It was so good that we decided to take a pizza back to the hotel for later. (The Quatro with a side order of their amazing pepperoncini.) It was just a yummy as the sandwiches, even cold. I am sure to the locals this may be just another local pizza place, but if you are visiting the area and want to find THE place to experience a great sandwich with a smile then this is the place to go. So I ate at this place when I was a kid ages ago, and ever since, I have sung their praises to any who would hear me across the states.

Allow me to just say that I can completely understand you likely will expect me to be guilty of exaggeration, but this is the best pizza you can find on this small planet. Seriously. Yes, I mean that.

Not only that, the ambiance (while updated after decades) still has that OG Quatro's feel. Sitting with my husband in the same booth as I did with my parents and watching his face beam with each bite was absolutely worth everything. We had car issues on the way in, and while Pizza cannot fix a radiator (please don't try to prove me wrong), it did wonders for the mood of the day.

Long and Short: If you haven't eaten here, do. If you can't, find a way to change that. Be sure to grab a yellow cup and some of that homemade ranch ❤️

Additionally, Huge shout out to Kyle and the amazing crew for helping out with a wacky IT issue with the website. Massive thanks for hooking a girl up with a tasty deep pan along with a magical memory to smile about later for ages. Especially after a particularly trying day.

Every Quatro's experience that I've has been amazing since 1992. Last month, was the best experience yet.

I was struggling to unload a 26' moving truck by myself while my son rested. I decided that deep dish cheese & taco pizzas would cure my heartache of leaving my home of decades.

It did. But not in the way I had planned. I was so tired that I accidentally forgot to order the taco pizza through the online system. I didn't realize this until the driver came.

He realized that I was saddened by my mistake & urged me to call the manager to order by phone. I told him it was my mistake & I'd just order again the next day. He was reluctant, but he thanked me for my business & left.

About 20 minutes later, a free personal taco pizza came to my door. I thanked the driver, with tears.

Where I'm from, this kind of kindness & decency is so rare. I still can't even believe it.

But I see what a generous business this is through their weekly fundraisers. I will always cheer this business on & hope they stay open for generations more.
