Sergio’s Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Carbondale

We went last night. It was busy as its parents weekend and the game has ended. We were seated immediately & ordered shortly after. Our server was running around like crazy and wasn’t at our table to give us refills. It felt like it was taking for ever for our food. When I noticed a family who ordered 15 min after us get their food. I asked our server and was told it would be up shortly. I questioned as others after us got their food. He told me he put the ticket in himself. I’m not saying he didn’t, but it could have gotten lost. After about 80 minutes he gave us another serving of dip for our chips. The owner (I believe it was him) came to the table we were very nice letting him know people who were seated after us got their food. He told us we are lucky he seated us so fast as people are waiting for tables in the bar. That it will probably be another hour for food. When people who came in 40 minutes after us got their food I flagged down the waiter explaining all this to him again. Letting him know the owner told us we were lucky but when people who arrived 40 minutes after us got their food obviously the ticket got lost. He came back and said there are 4 meals ahead of us as the ticket must have fallen on the floor. I said don’t you think they should put us first? So he went in back and helped cook our dinner. The food was ok. I got the pot meal under house specials. I thought it came with melted cheese and I had none. The meat was tough to chew. Thankfully the server said there was no charge. I really didn’t want to pay for that meal. For us it was told I should be happy he sat us! Like I should be thanking him for making him money. I personally won’t come back because of that attitude. Where do I begin?!? From the music so loud the hostess had to yell to greet us to the waitress who only spoke to us in Spanish to the horrible food, it was a pretty bad first (and last) visit. It was very hard to carry on a conversation due to the volume of the music. When the waitress came to take our order, she only spoke English long enough to tell me they had Pepsi, not Coke. After that, every word out of her mouth resulted in nodding and pointing to the menu as my Spanish is VERY rusty. The food.... What I ordered was supposed to be chicken with mushrooms covered in white sauce, a baked potato, and a salad. What I received was covered in fried onions, a partially cooked baked potato, and an onion salad swimming in the white sauce. While the chicken was edible once the copious amounts of onion (not mushrooms) were scraped off, it was extremely thin. The salad and baked potato were left mostly untouched. My husband's food was rubbery chicken, steak, and shrimp with cheesy rice. No refills were offered to my husband even though his empty beer bottle sat at the edge of the table for the majority of the meal we tried to choke down. This was honestly the worst restaurant food I've had and won't be going there again. The only saving grace was no one had...

Food 10/10 Service 10/10 The screw I bit into..0/10 This is the second time I have bit into a mystery object while eating food from this place. Both times it was the chili rellenos. First I bit into what was basically a large wooden splinter of some sorts, which I was told was a stem.........mmmhm ok. This time, I'm eating my leftovers and I bit into a full on screw. I almost thought I was hallucinating. My husband went back to the restaraunt and the woman at the front gaslighted him saying stuff like " we don't serve that beef" and that they need to verify that we were there so they will call him to come back in a little, ok cool. 2 hours later he goes back and they tell him the person that can view the footage isn't even there.......you knew that in the first place.
