I've never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant before in my life. On Tuesday evening, November 6th I ordered a turkey and cheese sub. It was your typical sub, but either the onions had gone bad or the oil/seasoning had been mixed incorrectly because both sides of the sub were incredibly bitter. I returned to the store and asked about getting a new sub or a refund. The cashier, Mike, asked if I had brought the sub. I told him no, that I had tried both ends and they both tasted the same so I had thrown it out. He told me that I "should have brought the sub" and then denied me a refund. On my way home, I tried calling the restaurant and speaking to a manager again to avoid any conflict, and was told "nobody was available." So, I returned to my office and took the sub out of the trash, placed it in a plastic bag, and returned. Here's where things took a turn for the worst. The cashier Mike, who it also turns out was the "unavailable" manager, began pointing and laughing at me when I walked in. He called another employee over to point saying "look at this guy." The other employee was notably uncomfortable laughing at a customer this way, and simply stepped backwards. He pointed to the trash can and said "you can put that right in there man." I asked why then, did he have me go dig through my own trash just to put it in his? Did he think I was stealing? His answer: "Yes, pretty much." He asked "do you want your money back or not?" while still laughing. I sat on this post for a few days, because I never post reviews online and I wanted a chance to cool off. But looking back, what happened that night was unacceptable. I used to love coming here, but after being ridiculed by management in such a way, me and my family no longer feel welcome. I will also continue telling this story to my friends and coworkers in Carlisle and the...
Read moreOur family has been coming to George's for the whole of my daughter and her father's life. This place is SUCH a family tradition, at least it was. Guys, I'll save you the trouble of going because it's disgusting in there. Yes, the original interior is charming and we love the photos HOWEVER this place is falling apart and it looks like the dining area hasn't been cleaned since the 50s. The wall is literally peeling, the vents are coated with sludge- the list goes on. I can't even imagine what the kitchen looks like with a dining area that needs updated so badly. Over the years we've overlooked that for old time sake, but this passed weekend we had our last experience at George's. We ordered a medium pizza and it took 45 minutes to come out, no one else was in the building & the phones were dead. My husband had to ask where our food was just to find it sitting on the counter while the staff finished their conversation. & we could tell it had been sitting there because it was lukewarm when they finally gave it to us. And it was gross- the bacon on this thing was raw. It was not what we loved about George's. This place is dying. The soda machine doesn't even work half the time and you're getting over priced gross food made in, what I can only assume, is a gross kitchen. We LOVE this place so this is a hard write, but it does need some serious love. & this wasn't our first time having experiences like I've just described. This is probably our third time so we really...
Read moreWe just moved to Carlisle boro and received a menu in the mail advertising "WE DELIVER!" We called at 7:45 on a Saturday night to order some pizza and Stromboli. We were quickly told that they DO NOT actually deliver.... So we said we'd come pick it up. We were then informed that they don't make any pizzas or Strombolis after 8pm.....
First, it was 7:45. Second, why would you stop making your main menu items a hour before you close????
Makes zero sense to me. I get that times have been tough for eateries, maybe they're under staffed? But don't send advertisements out saying you deliver when you don't. And don't turn away business over a hour before you close! If we had called at 8:50 I could understand. But sheesh, it's a Saturday night in a college town. Shutting down your kitchen at 7:45 makes no sense.
We threw the menu away and...
