My family and I dined at Dragons Den a few times during our stay at Legoland this past weekend. Two times were for their breakfast, which is included for free in the hotel package and once for dinner.
Dragons Den is located INSIDE of the Legoland Castle Hotel. You don't need to be a hotel guest to dine there though. Make sure that you make a reservation online via OpenTable prior to arriving! They are only taking reservations, no walk ins at the moment. You get a 5 minute grace period but they also state that they will hold your table for 30 minutes (according to the email I received) in case you're running late.
There is inside seating as well as outdoor. All of my visits were inside but I think next time we may try outdoor if the weather permits it. There was a small line each time we visited but it went by pretty fast. The only time we had a short wait after checking in with the hostess was our last day Sunday for breakfast. The restaurant has a pretty neat waiting area decorated with Lego designs everywhere. There are also Legos for kids to play with as well as a cool spinning wheel! They have neat Lego art located within the entire restaurant also, pretty cool to take pictures of with the family!
I will say that I much preferred their breakfast compared to the dinner experience we had. Breakfast is served buffet style so there's no rush. You can take as many trips as you want to try their selections of food. My favorite were the pancakes, Biscuits & gravy and their blueberry muffins. My son loved the cereal packs (they offered cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and I think Frosted Flakes?) and he also enjoyed their Belgian waffles! They had a lot to choose from though, each day they had a different "ethnic food" area. Saturday was "taste of Mexico" and Sunday they had "Asian entrees" which was orange chicken - a pretty random breakfast option but at least they tried? All of the breakfast food was nice and fresh. Nothing spectacular or out of this world but my family and I enjoyed it!
Now for the dinner experience - honestly I wouldn't recommend to come here if you're paying for the meal out of pocket. Our server, Antonio, was nice and came around every now and then to check on us but I wouldn't say the service is anywhere near 5 star (not that I expected it anyways). The wait time is what really killed the experience for me. My sons food came out much quicker than my bf and I. Even though my son ordered the pepperoni kids pizza and I got the regular pepperoni pizza for myself. We must have been sitting there minimum 45 minutes as our son ate before our food ended up coming out. And honestly my pizza was the exact same as my sons so I'm not sure why the time frame was so far between. It wasn't nearly worth the money we spent. My pizza got cold very fast and tasted like something that would be served at a buffet. My bf did enjoy his burger though! So that was a plus.
At the end of the day I'd definitely recommend Dragons Den for their breakfast but not dinner. If you do dine at their restaurant for dinner be prepared for a long wait if you order from the main menu while kids are served an hour in advance! 4 stars though because I really did enjoy their breakfast and the convenience of the restaurant being located...
Read moreI will try to make a long story short but it's a long one...I just got back today from my legoland vacation with my family. We were out celebrating my boy's 5th birthday and needless to say, after the past year we've had, we really needed this vacation. I have a broken ankle at the moment but pushed forward for my son and in order to not forfeit our paid vacation. I reserved a cabana at the castle hotel and was told that a server would be coming out to take our order. No said server from the dragons den restaurant came. I asked for update on said server about an hr into our cabana stay and was told that we can place an order via QR code and note in the special requests section our cabana number and to please bring out and that our order should be out. We waited another hr and a half and no food was being brought out so there I go with my crutches over to the restaurant where I spoke to a female manager. I informed her of the lack of communication between the pool side area and the restaurant and asked why I wasn't called or texted that I had to come pick up my food? She stated no number was provided, therefore, she sent a message through an app? I told her I received no "message" but why couldn't they call the poolside to let me know I had to pick up the food. She couldn't provide answer, she was really guarded, didn't not provide any resolution, asked me what I wanted, I told her my son, grandmother and I had been out there in the pool area with no drinks, no food so what solution could she provide me. The manager decided to show me the tablet with my order and said, sorry no number was provided, first glance at the tablet, I see my phone number. I point it out to her and she looks at the tablet and says, oh, well sorry, shrugs it off and says, " I sent a message through the app, sorry you didn't get it". At this point I just asked for my refund.
We left early from our expensive reserved cabana with my crying child who didn't want to leave the pool because we were hungry and thirsty and were not about to eat at this restaurant where we did not feel welcomed.
We made a last minute reservation at Skyline Cafe at the Main Legoland hotel, 10/10 service, food was great, and we had an awesome dinner with cake for son. 😊
Too bad I lost money on a cabana experience we did not receive but that was the only downside to our 4 day stay. We will be back to Legoland Hotel and...
Read moreGreat themed decor around the restaurant! We didn't have a reservation but was able to get one as a walk in. Given social distancing there were not many parties eating yet we still had to wait 1/2 hour. We went in for ice cream which is not served at this restaurant. Ended up ordering dinner for the 4 of us. I ordered the pesto pasta. It looked amazing. Very fresh tomatoes and sprinkled herbs. I was in pesto heaven. I held the first bit and the pasta burned my lips I had to pull the fork away. I stirred the plate to cool it off. The steam was so heavy while stirring I could tell it was extremely hot. I attempted a couple more bites but too hot still. I asked the waitress if they usually serve plates this hot because I burned my lips. She really didn't respond and I asked for some ice to cool off my lips. In about 30 minutes my family finished with their meals. My plate, still scolding with steam. It tasted great and I looked forward to eating it later on so filled up a to go container. We got back to our room and I realized I left without my food. I called the restaurant but couldn't get a live person, so I left a voicemail for a manager to contact me. I wanted let them know I'd come back for my container and address my burned lips. It seemed as they served the pasta straight from the boiling pot to me. That evening my lips began to peel. The next day they blistered. When we got home from our day at Legoland, I went to kaiser urgent care because my lips were blistering more and turned purplish. Indeed they were burned and I have to follow up with a plastic surgeon. I never got a phone call back from that voicemail on I left either. I will be contacting the...
