Great location, awesome employees, the food court is located outside (Note you MUST be a current Costco member and MUST have a Costco card or the Costco app presented to be scanned to pay for food) the food court employees are outstanding they work quickly and safely to get the food to you in a timely manner even during the lunch and dinner rush. There are 6 self servies ordering kiosks for credit card or Costco cash card use and 1 cash only line There are 2 entrance\exits. One entrance\exit is only accessible from East bound on Palomar Airport Road 700 feet past the traffic lights at Paseo del Norte, on the right side you turn right (going South) for 80 feet then turning left (going East) that curves right (going South). The second entrance\exit (going South) is located at the traffic lights of Palomar Airport Road and Armada Drive. This is the entrance\exit to use for the Costco Gas station as well as for the other shops/stores (see below for the other shops/store names). The only problem with this Costco location is the entrance\exit at Palomar Airport Road and Armada Drive traffic lights. Entering here there are 2 entrance lanes (going South) divided by a small island from the 4 exit lanes (going North), of the 2 entrance lanes the right lane has to turn right 285 feet from the traffic lights to a lane (going East to West), where there are shops and stores with an entrance and exits on the right (North) 115 feet and 295 feet from the right turn. This (East to West) lane also continues straight with Costco parking on the left (South) and right (North) past the 295 feet shop and stores entrance and exits. There is also an opposite lane (going West to East) with a stop sign where the lane can either turn right (going South) to the Costco Gas station and parking or cross the the entrance lane that goes South. The 4 exit lanes which has 2 left lanes that turn left (going West on Palomar Airport Road) then a lane that can go either straight (going North on Armada Drive) or turn right (going East on Palomar Airport Road) the last lane can only turn right (going East on Palomar Airport Road). The problem is the (West to East) lane has a stop sign people stop at the stop sign then pull forward so they can get into the exit lane even if the exit lanes are full this then blocks the incoming traffic. The owner of the property needs to close off West to East lane with the stop sign this will stop the incoming lane from being blocked.
The other shops and stores are GoBahli Nails, Crumbi, Burger Lounge, Veggie Grill, Nothing Bundt Cakes,...
Read moreTo whom it may concern,
I have shopped weekly at the Carlsbad, California Costco since it opened. I have always been extremely athletic, but one an a half years ago I had an accident and am currently disabled, awaiting at least two surgeries. I cannot push a cart, or carry more than a few things at once. I can certainly not lift or carry anything heavy, such as Costco’s multi-packages of raw chicken. When shopping alone, I ask a Costco worker to assist me by carrying a heavy item to the cash register and then to carry it out to my car.
Often Costco workers are polite, understanding and helpful. Several times I have been treated rudely at the cash register when explain my handicap and ask to have someone take my groceries through the exit and to my car. This last week I had to explain repeatedly that I needed help and cannot push a cart. The cashier and her assistant would not help me but kept saying that they would put everything in a cart for me and I could push it to the door and then someone would put it in my car. After four attempts they finally called over a manager. He told me the same thing. I was humiliated in front of all the people around wishing hearing distance. The manager eventually got the message and carried a case of bottled water towards the door. Then he put it in a cart and told a young man to push it through the line. The young man suggested that I go get my car and pull it up while he was in line to exit.
When I came back with my car and walked around looking for him and my groceries, they were no where to be found. I started crying. At the member service counter I asked to speak with the manager and told him all that had happened, that I was very humiliated and upset. I don’t look disabled, but I am. The manager tracked down my groceries and had someone else load them. I told him that he should talk to his employees about being empathetic and helpful towards the disabled. He said he would and apologized.
I drove home crying and a neighbor carried the heavy things in for my and put them away. Having to depend on others for simple things is incredibly depressing I shouldn’t have to beg the workers at...
Read moreI am a long time member of Costco. Normally I would give 5 stars - I never have had a bad experience, before last week. But last week, I went to get gas and grab 3 items (on my lunch break from work). I share a membership w/ my dad and he had mailed our dues in over a week prior. When I got to the gas pump, it told me that I needed to see the membership desk. I thought that was strange - but timing could be off a bit. I was lucky and the gentleman next to me helped me and swiped his membership card. I thought for sure this was an easy fix (since I know we paid, we always renew).
So I parked and got my cart and went over to the membership desk. I explained my situation and I just needed to grab a few things. The lady looked at me blankly. She took my card and said I see it just expired. I said yes, I think that our dues payment might post shortly as we sent it in a week ago. She just handed me my card and said sorry. I stood there for a moment, thinking she was kidding. I asked can I please have a guest pass for today? I got a blank stare and a big NO. I stood there another moment, thinking the Costco employee would certainly help me out this one time (I didn't want to pay again and have a double payment). And I am used to Costco ALWAYS taking care of their members.
Years ago, and I mean years ago (since we have been members a very long time) I was given a guest pass before I had a membership. I was firmly told - they don't do that anymore. And a very dry -sorry with another blank stare. And then we just stood there in silence. Honestly, I get it. They don't have our membership money (yet). But in the same token, they can see our membership on file and the long history. See the years and numerous renewals + hundreds of shopping trips. To make a one-time exception due to the timing issue seems outrageous. I left that day empty handed and VERY VERY disappointed in Costco. I wasted my lunch being treated poorly, trust ill never make that...
