I have seen this place lots of times, but I never tried. Well, this was the day. I walked inside, and there were a couple of individuals lined up at the register. I wasn't sure if I was to order first and then sit down, as the folks behind the counter didn't greet me at all, nor said anything to me. I waited until they ordered their items from a pastry case full of baked goods. I saw other people grab a menu and sit down, so I did the same and went to a very nice, clean, and relaxing patio. A server walked by me a few times and didn't say anything, but finally, after a bit, she came over and greeted, asking if I wanted anything to drink. I ordered a cappuccino. I received my drink, and the server then took my order. I chose to go with their California Benedict, which included avocado and tomatoes versus ham. I chose to get a salad instead of breakfast potatoes. The menu said fruit came with the dish, but there was no fruit when my food arrived. The benedict was great. The hollandaise sauce was house made, and the food was tasty. The food here is great, and the ambiance is truly relaxing with classic jazz playing in the background, creating a relaxing environment. The only disappointment is that the service lacked a bit with attentiveness to the customer. They were very polite when serving you and not rude at all, just very slow and failed to acknowledge when someone walks in, which is a little bit of a turn-off. Lastly, the food here was great, but the portion versus price was lacking.

L'atelier de Paris in Carlsbad is wonderful in every respect and I am so happy I found this amazing café. From the relaxing ambiance, to the scrumptious sweets, delectable meals, and last but not least, the lovely staff, I would highly recommend L'atelier de Paris. During my extended stay in Carlsbad, this has been my go-to place for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I have had a wide variety of items and everything has been absolutely delicious. Also, the coffee is the best I've had since my.honeymoon in Costa Rica 10 years ago! I have been able to RELAX (emphasized b/c that does not come easily for me) & enjoy the enchanting atmosphere. Since I have dined here so many times (at least 15 times in 3 weeks) I have gotten to know many of the servers including Merhdo, Naz, Grace, Kenzo & Corina. Each and every person is warm, welcoming, amicable and responsive to patrons wants and needs. I would highly recommend experiencing it for yourself…you won't be disappointed. Those of you lucky people who live nearby, I'm confident you will be regulars…. bon appétit!

A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Food & Warm Hospitality! My wife and I discovered L’atelier de Paris a few months ago, and it has quickly become one of our favorite spots in Carlsbad. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the exceptional food and outstanding service. One of our most delightful discoveries - their cinnamon buns—absolute perfection! Soft, buttery, and each bite is a heavenly experience. The last time I had cinnamon buns this unforgettable was over a decade ago in Charlottesville, VA. After trying several here in San Diego, I can confidently say that L’atelier de Paris has matched (if not surpassed) those cherished flavors from Virginia. Whether you’re stopping in for a cozy breakfast, a leisurely brunch, or just a sweet treat, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. We can’t wait to return and explore more of their delicious menu!

Disappointed. Our server, bless her heart, was the only one working the dining room on Mother's Day morning, and did her best. She had a hard time seating everyone, taking orders, and sweeping up, all by herself. Once in a while a bus boy would come out of the back to clear a table or deliver entrees. Sometimes the woman, who I assume owns the place, would take an order. We ordered drinks and a crepe right away, but had to ask to check on our drinks twice. Fritatta and omelet were good, quiche did not have goat cheese or sun dried tomatoes as we thought it would, and the medium eggs were so undercooked that the whites were uncooked. We had to ask the owner about the crepe and she said "they were holding it in the kitchen until we were ready for it." Translation: they forgot. Once delivered it was not edible because they burned the caramel. They get an extra star for taking the crepe off the bill. Suggestion: hire more help, and check the food before it leaves...
