I recently dined at Pitfire Pizza in Carlsbad, and overall, it was a solid experience. The food is decent, and the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, but there were a few things that could have been better.
Tasty Pizza, but Long Wait Time The pizza itself was quite good! I ordered a simple cheese pizza, and while the flavor was great, waiting 40 minutes for it was a bit too long, especially for something so basic. If you're not in a rush, the food is worth it, but the slow service is something to keep in mind.
Delicious Cocktails, but Small for the Price I also tried one of their cocktails, which was well-crafted and flavorful. However, the portion size was disappointing for the price. I expected something a bit more substantial given how much they charge. While the taste was excellent, I couldn't help but feel like I was paying more for presentation than quantity.
Great Atmosphere and Friendly Staff On the plus side, the vibe at Pitfire is fun and casual, perfect for a relaxed night out. The staff was friendly and attentive, which definitely helped make up for the long wait time.
Final Thoughts Overall, Pitfire Pizza is a nice spot for decent pizza and great drinks, but be prepared for a longer wait and smaller cocktails than you might expect. Still, the food and atmosphere make it worth a visit if you're not in a hurry!
4 stars for good food and a nice experience, but room for improvement on the speed and...
Read moreIts a typical pizza place, with a hip vibe, where you place your order, you get your plates, napkins, water, etc. Its a smaller location so you constantly see each table up and about getting their items - instead of having servers - you have a person from each table roaming which I found to be less enjoyable since its a tight fit inside. The entire time everyone asks servers where these needed items are - seems easier just to have them at the table or bring them to simplify. I ordered a margarita pizza and beer - I see there's also a vegan option - with cashew cheese, whatever that is, not sure if I was given a vegan option by accident - as my pizza didn't taste like real pizza. Not a fan of the consistency, crust, sauce, cheese, flavor at all. Frankly, it was bad - whether it was vegan by accident or regular pizza. Was it gluten free? Was it cauliflower crust? I dunno, but it wasn't pizza. I then brought home a few slices for my family to do a blind taste test - all reactions were "is this real pizza?" I can see why people like the trendy vibe - just didn't hit for me. If I was in Carlsbad I would visit Pizza Port in Bressi Ranch. And please, if I have to place my own order, walk up to place additional orders, get my own plates and needed items - don't...
Read moreSix of us drove from Poway and went to Pitfire Pizza today because this was the restaurant I chose for my Birthday . . . it was a home run! We ordered the Sausage Party, Mushroom, and PB&J (Pineapple, Canadian Bacon, and Jalapeno) pizza's, all were fantastic. Nice mild flavor and crust. We also tried the Brussels Sprouts appetizer, Caesar salad, and a side of chicken meatballs. Everything was amazing, their Caesar salad dressing is second to none. I had a craving for an "Old Fashioned" drink, it was hands-down the best mixed drink I ever had, or at least at that time . . . Our bartender (Aiden), knowing it was my birthday, came over with a concoction he whipped-up; he correctly judged my preference and created what he called an "Aiden style whiskey-sour with spirits forward" - oh man was it ever good, I've never tasted anything like it. No B.S., that was the new best mixed drink I ever had. Everybody at the table had a sip and agreed. If you're fortunate enough to go there, ask Aiden to have him recreate it, you won't be disappointed. The man truly is a libations artist; I asked him if he knew what his "special ingredient" was, he didn't, but I do . . . it's love, that's what he puts into his...
