Thai One On — Restaurant in Carlsbad

HORRIBLE! I can’t believe this. Called to place an order for a family of 5 over the phone for pick up. When my in-laws go to pick up the order at the Carlsbad location at the appropriate time (30 min) they said there was no record of the order in the system and they assumed we called the incorrect location. They offered to put the order to the front of the queue but it would still be a wait.

This is the SECOND TIME this has happened to me!! The phone number was correct as I had the GM read it back to me when we were on the line. We vowed never to go here again after this SAME THING happened 5 months ago and the hostess was not apologetic or accommodating. We decided to try once more since it’s the closest Thai food place , and I regret that we did. I spoke with the general manager and part owner “John” who was rude and dismissive and had no explanation for why this happened, saying they get “hundreds of orders a night” and “this has never happened before.” After expressing my frustration again for my in-laws having to wait for this phantom order, he put the food to the front of the line and applied a 15% discount (when he was initially only willing to offer 10% as they “don’t normally offer any discounts.”)

There MUST be something wrong with their POS system where it is failing to push tickets through. I suggest they look into this and fix it. Oh, and they were hosting full bar service and not following COVID regulations for open restaurants in the Carlsbad area - which is...

I sat at the sushi bar for over 3 hours with a party of six and asked for an order of uni with quail egg and they only gave my husband one piece and charged him $14. I asked for steamed vegetables and chicken and I got what looked like a bowl of dog food. The other people in our party got what they wanted but we were stuck with $190 bill my husband didn't eat either, moreover he wasn't even asked if he could purchase an entree. The owner referred to me as "Sir" two times and I am a beautiful woman. He also poured shots for the men in the group and basically said that it was just for the men. I don't know how you can screw up steamed vegetables and chicken but they manage to do that. They have the whole hells Kitchen mentality in there but they can't back it up. Their place in Vista is far better than their Encinitas location. The atmosphere is a loud bistro-style. Their Vista location is intimate and quiet. My husband and I spent the following day at the Aviara all day. That was the same amount of money and included all kinds of food and Cocktails and Uber rides to and fro. If You want a beautiful experience go to the Aviara and spend the day with Jared at the bar, take a stroll of the beautiful landscaping and enjoy a delicious meal out on the patio. For health reasons I told female owner I request the cook use very little oil with the Pineapple fried rice!! I’ve gone to La Costa and Vista location for several years! I say the same request! I was the only one in the La Costa location at Sunday lunch, the “cook” poured in a lot of oil and I could hear the rice frying pop pop like it was French fries!!! The owner opened the the container as she presented it to me, she said “it looks good!!!” Oh my!!! The mixture was shining with oil!!! I was starved and taken back, they collect money when you order. The owner was rather rude and no customer service. I did not want to get into an argument with her so I left with the $25 food plus I tipped :((

I was sick for 2 days!!! I called that afternoon. The male owner was supposed to call me back. No call!!!

2 days later I had to listen to their mgr who just returned from a long vacation and was spouting off wrong info and telling me I could only order soup! Lol!!! I will Never go into their Thai One On ever!!! Customer service is everything and realizing we don’t all want to eat excess oil in a receipt that does not require it!!!

That cook was used to cooking his Mexican food with lots of oils.

They have NO respect for people’s health!!!
