I want to like this place—no, I want to love it. Reading the reviews here, I am wondering if there is some other magical entrance to Papa Ganoush that takes you to a different restaurant entirely, because after four visits at different times of the day on weekdays and weekends, I probably won't go back.
First the good stuff... The falafel is really quite good. They use parsley in the mix, and the textures are spot on. The hummus is solid; they used to put paprika and sumac on it but it was uncooked chickpeas for garnish this last time. The babaganoush is my jam too: Lots of garlic with a creamy texture.
Now the bad. They just aren't friendly here, like not at all. This is a distinct departure from most purveyors of cuisine from the Levant and is a big disappointment. We've had the chicken schwarma three times, and it was bone dry every time. The gyro fairs better but not the lamb. The salad is very hit-and-miss: Once we had plenty of feta and pickled veg, but the rest of the time it was like a sparsely adorned iceberg mix. The dolamdes/dolmathes/dolmas (they just say "grape leaves") are a dull affair with nothing to recommend them.
Finally, and this is huge for me... They serve black olives and just black olives. The world is full of great olives, and they are an important part of the regional cuisine, but here they just tick a box. Nothing could be simpler nor...
Read morePretty disappointed with my first and only experience here a few nights ago. A $50 takeout order that was late, incorrect, and had missing items. They were out of Fattoush salad… kinda wild considering the name. Instead of offering something instead or a refund, they said they’re giving Greek salads instead. I asked for feta on the side since the order was for a vegan. The request was ignored and instead the salads were coated with it and extra was provided on the side. I also have never heard of a Greek salad that has pickles and jalapeños on it. We ordered the Mez plate appetizer, only received a giant tub of baba ganoush, no hummus, and just a half slice of pita bread. And did not receive our additional order of pita bread at all. I’ve worked many food service jobs, so I’m empathetic to a workers experience in that industry, but it was fairly obvious this was a result of not caring at all about other people given the idgaf attitude of the grown men working at the store. It’s sad, the place has a cool vibe and it’s my favorite style food. Pita Land in Fishers, Canal Bistró and Sahara in Broad Ripple, all better options where you will pay less to actually receive the items...
Read more"I recently had the pleasure of dining at papa Fattoush , and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the hostess, who promptly showed me to my table. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy, with a great balance of natural and ambient lighting.
The menu offered a wide range of options, and I was impressed by the quality of the ingredients used in each dish. I decided to start with the Hummus, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. For my main course, I went with the Gyro platter with Greek salad, which was simply outstanding. The flavors were expertly balanced, and the presentation was beautiful.
But what really set this restaurant apart was the service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, and she made sure our glasses were never empty and our plates were always cleared promptly. The attention to detail throughout the meal was exceptional.
Overall, I highly recommend Papa Fattoush for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. The food, atmosphere, and service are all outstanding, and I can't...
