Island Ice Factory — Restaurant in Carolina Beach

This place is amazing and has something for everyone! Island Ice is my family's favorite ice cream shop to visit. It's family owned and has a changing menu of great home made ice cream, Gelato, smoothies, icees, milk shakes, malt shakes, and soft serve ice cream. I have been a type 1 diabetic for over 30 years and I have tried many sugar free desserts and Island Ice by far has the best tasting sugar free, diary free, and vegan options I have ever tasted plus I have tried almost all of their regular flavored ice creams too 😉 Our favorites are the "banana pudding" ice cream, "honey lavender" ice cream, "coffee and donuts" ice cream, sugar free raspberry gelato, and the "orange cream" icees. They even offer a sugar free whipped cream which is amazing! There's always something great for everyone in my family to choose from and we love that the flavors are always changing and you can definitely tell that fresh ingredients are always used. We have visited Island Ice many times now and the shop is always very clean and even if the line is out the door it moves quickly and you cannot beat their prices. Since we are locals we purchased one of their refillable koozie cups because we can get refills of ice cream, Gelato, or icees at a discounted price in their shop or out on the beach from one of their mobile carts which is amazing on a hot sunny beach day with the kids. They have the best italian ice and homemade ice cream! This is our first time to Carolina Beach on a 4 day vacation and we've already been twice on the first two days. My youngest son who has a major sweet tooth doesn't typically want ice cream LOVED it day one and asked for it on day two! We had the chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough (delicious) and vanilla the first day and chocolate and strawberry on day two...the strawberry is the absolute best I have ever had!! The milk and cookies and chocolate chip mint were also enjoyed by my husband and our niece. Staff was very friendly and we will probably be back today and tomorrow!! Definitely stop here for your sweet treat and wait if they are busy!! I know parking can be a bear at times...we walked about a mile the first time from our condo, but took a cab back and have used a cab to and from the boardwalk since (another best $10 spent...$5 ride...

We live close to Island Ice Factory and decided to drive down to grab some ice cream to bring home. Ordered the first one and I asked for a lid and the lady said she doesn’t have lids. Felt kind of stuck at that moment because I already ordered one, so we ordered the rest. The butter pecan ice cream was horrible, it tasted like I was eating a jar of Carmel, it was wayyy to sweet and tasted nothing like butter pecan. My daughters Black Raspberry ice cream was more gray in color and had chunks of something in it. (not raspberries). My son and fiancé had the other two which were Reese’s pb cup and M&M ice creams . They didn’t end ip eating theirs either, they said it wasn’t very good. Very disappointed because it was a few cents away from $20 and I even left a $4 dollar tip. Literally threw that...
