Latella at the Beach — Restaurant in Carolina Beach

We found this wonderful gem about 3 years ago during a trip to Carolina Beach. Since then, we have traveled from Raleigh on a regular basis just to get their heavenly gelato and sorbetto! From the outstanding customer service, the freshness and imaginative flavors, you will not be disappointed. We started a tradition of coming on Jan. 1 as a treat for my daughter, to celebrate her birthday. On our last visit, the manager (who is sooo nice), told us that we could contact them in advance and they would be able to make a flavor for her. We called a week in advance. I told my daughter to choose 5 flavors from their extensive list, so that they could choose which one to make. Imagine our surprise when we arrived to find that they had made all 5 flavors! We bought a pint of each one! We recommend Latella to all of our family and friends. I wish we lived closer to enjoy even more. Don't miss out, please give this place a try. I dare you...

We've been to the Carolina Beach Boardwalk so many times but never stopped in to try the gelato. SO glad I stopped in this time. The young lady working the counter was so friendly, she greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. The store is bright and clean, they have items/souvenirs for sale. The gelato is beautifully displayed and the flavors are clearly marked. They offer gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free options. I chose the chocolate oreo for myself and the sugar-free strawberry cream for my husband. I was taking the gelato back to our rental unit, so she offered full-size spoons or tasting-size spoons and napkins, and asked if I needed an insulated bag. They do REQUIRE mask. I walked in today with my child to get ice cream. I was interested because I noticed they had at least one sugar free ice cream and was hoping to find more sugar free options inside. Walked up to the counter, the employee said if I had any questions to let her know. She then proceeded to ask if I had a mask, I replied no and she said I needed to put something on my face and offered me a brown paper napkin out of the dispenser. I let her know we would take our business elsewhere and walked out.

Just wanted to let others who may have a medical reason or those who do not wear masks know beforehand.
