I went to Subway at Carolina Beach, NC on June 16th, 2022 @ 6:10pm to purchase cookies for my son. I didn't want a sandwich, just cookies so I patiently waited behind a man that was currently paying for his sandwich. As I waited, another customer walked in and went to the beginning of the line to order a sandwich.
After the Subway worker waited on the customer in front of me, she immediately walked to the start of the sandwich line to help the customer that came in after me. At no time did she make eye contact or even acknowledge me. So assuming that she didn't see me, I called out..."Ma'am, I was first before that customer". She finally glanced over at me and said abruptly, the line starts down here and then turned back to the customer and asked how could she help him.
I was in shocked. I have been to a lot of subways over my lifetime but NEVER have I been treated like this. I should have just left at this point but for some reason I thought explaining why I was there would clear things up. I told her I was only there to get cookies, not a sandwich. She then responded back to me..."As I said before, the line starts down here. And you should have spoken up earlier." She then hollered for her co-worker that was in the back to come help me with my order.
As her co-worker helped me, I said out loud, "Your co-worker is very rude". Once again she yells back at me while I'm paying for my cookies ,"I'm not rude, you just can't read the sign. It clearly says the line starts down here".
I walked out to the car and gave the cookies to my son. I decided to go back in and get the worker's name. When I asked her name she responded back...."Why do you need my name for?". Then she said it was "Sam". I truly doubt this was her real name. I told her that the way she was treating customers was wrong and she needed better customer service skills if she wanted to work with the public. She told me that I called her out of name by calling her "rude" so I deserved to be talked to like she was talking to me.
I decided to leave at that point because I had enough of being verbally abused by this worker.
If this restaurant is attempting to achieve the worse customer service in North Carolina, I would say at this point they are winning hands down!

Read moreI understand now why they call their employees sandwich artists. It speaks to a higher calling, a greater approach to customer service and food preparation. So, to that point--in one word, SAM, short for Subway employee Samantha. My family and I met her when we came in for dinner, and she was by far one of the best employees in any food service we have ever encountered. Friendly, kind, compassionate and helpful throughout completing the food order for six people. She never once wavered in her patience, tone, or professionalism. She was playful and gentle with our children, and Incredibly polite. Her other partner working there was also very helpful, but Sam provided some of the best customer service I've ever had in my life. Their Subways all over this country, but if you are passing through this area you simply must stop by and ask for her. Not only will you have a wonderful face-to-face encounter with an amazing human being, but most likely have one of the most delicious sandwiches...
Read moreCarry out or eat in, call from car or home, come in wearing face mask; it is all good! You are safe to eat here as employees practice very good food handling practices and social distancing in service and seating/eating arrangements; I come here often, at the Carolina Beach Subway; This team of sandwich makers do an excellent job in preparing, processing, packaging and checking out. There are only 3 behind the counter, but they are quick and efficient. The vegetables and bread are always fresh. My sub-sandwich is always made to order and to my satisfaction. Since I have been here several times, they remember what I like to order. The inside seating area is always clean and the drink area is neat and organized. You can come and go out in under 5 minutes. This is my go to lunch spot in town. I'm trying to stay away from fried foods lately, so it is refreshing to get a sandwich...
