Mofongo's Carolina — Restaurant in Carolina

Restaurant Mofongos has a nice variety of Puertorican Cuisine Meals. There dishes are very delicious and their prices are not very expensive, there portions are nice. On Saturday September 4, 2021 my wife and I decided to go visit and ate at Mofongos's Restaurant. My wife ordered an appetizer which was fried battered nuggets Mero fish with one of there sauce which was very delicious and tasty. For the main course, my wife orderd Mofongo de yuca (Cassava Mofongo) with a large thick fried cut of pork chop can-can and I had the stuffed chicken breast with trifongo mixed with bacon, onions sauteed in garlic sause. We also had 2 cups of Sangria. We finished with a dessert, fried cheese cake with a ball of vanilla ice cream and a hint of sweat guava sause which was very tasty. Everything was delicious. The staff was very freindly and professional, also very attentive. It was not crowded and the tables were seperated. Delicious food and warm staff - a 10/10 experience dining at this restaurant tonight. We arrived here straight from the airport and were told that dine-in had closed and it was take-out only. I was a little disappointed since I was incredibly hungry and couldn’t wait to dig in, but opted for take out nonetheless. We ordered the vegetarian mofongo with a side of sautéed rice (rice and beans mixed together) and fried yellow plantains.

The takeaway bag arrived and we decided to stand in the tables outside and eat (so hungry!!!). The staff saw us and were sooooo kind to invite it’s back in and let us grab a corner table and finish our meal while they went about locking up.

The food itself was OUTSTANDING. The mofongo came with a salad and sautéed veggies, in a sauce that was to die for. Excellent. The sautéed rice and beans were sooooo tasty and went great with the sweet fried plantains. What an great restaurant - can’t wait...

My husband's and I stopped here because we had read all the wonderful reviews, but below, I will explain why I gave it three stars. We ordered a Maduro Mofongo with skirt steak, and to our surprise, we got a Mofongo with regular small pieces of steak. Not only are we extremely educated with meat, but I think they thought they could fool us. My husband and I own a meat market back at home, and we are extremely educated with the cuts of meat. My husband did order a churasco and did get a churasco. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he just laughed and said nothing. My whole point is, if I order Churasco, don't play me for a fool, and give me some cheap steak and charge me for Churasco. It's totally wrong!😡 The Maduro Mofongo should have been taken off the bill for false advertisement...
