We recently had dinner at Delgado's, part of a longstanding family tradition because it's always been great food, good service, and an enjoyable spot. This time was very different- the table was sticky and dirty when we were seated, and when we asked if it could be cleaned, the waitress said "I'm sorry it's not clean to YOUR standards, but we can clean it." She cleaned the table, but later when I picked up a napkin half of it tore off and stayed adhered to the table because of how sticky it was, and I had to peel the menu off the table. One party member ordered the steak fajitas and got 4 tiny pieces of steak (all the size of a shrimp) and no tortillas, one member never got their sides after asking twice, and we never got half of the drinks the table ordered (although we didn't get charged for them either, to be fair). At the end of the meal, we were told they'd prefer we pay cash because the machines were down-not a huge deal, but fortunately we happened to have money in larger bills. After 30 minutes we'd never received change on $150 for a $78 tab because, and I quote: "we didn't count the change." Two of us had to go and ask the waitress separately for change twice before she brought it to us angrily. While the food is OK (when it has all the ingredients), the service, disrespect, and other issues were abysmal and not what I've experienced or loved about Delgado's...
Read moreI've eaten here dozens of time over the years as a 45-year local, and tonight was the worst service I've ever had. The server took 15 minutes to come to our table. We had no water, only chips and salsa that the bus boy brought us. Every other employee at the restaurant came to our table more times than the server did. We were only graced with her presence twice. The table next to us got up and left after they waited 20 minutes. They didn't have waters either, just chips and salsa. The food runner did a better job and should be promoted to server after you fire the current server. And the owner was there, I've been going there since I was a small kid so I know who he is. He either doesn't see how awful the service that they currently provide is, or he's severely understaffed. I've been working in the service industry for 25 years, and they need Robert Irvine to do a restaurant impossible there. The food was mid at best. One of our plates came out with no cheese on the refried beans, while the other came out with the cheese melted on top. There is no consistency and no accountability from the expo. It should have been fixed before they sent it out.
Response to owner: Yes we were there last night 9/29...
Read moreLiving in carpinteria and frequenting delgados my entire life I have to say that the past year they have just really gone downhill. Service, food, atmosphere etc. It’s really disappointing with how popular they are and how much we’ve enjoyed going there in the past. It’s an often occurrence now that when we dine with them there is ALWAYS something missing, wrong, incorrect or just does not run smoothly. Tonight, we had to ask multiple times to have our chips refilled, our drinks brought to the table, condiments, etc. it’s frustrating when you’re expected to pay and tip and have a service provided to you only to constantly feel like you’re a burden on the wait staff. As we waited a good 20 minutes just for our drinks we noticed that the walls and ceilings had massive amounts of webs, dirt and overall debris that has not been cleaned and just hanging over many of the tables. Some of our food arrived cold and had to be sent back and one of our plates came so much later that one of our guests was rushing to eat. I continue to give them chances over and over thinking it will be better but I think tonight was the last straw for us for a while. Please do...
