I love this place and wish we had anything like it up in Delaware. NC gets all the best little hideaways!
From the moment my husband and I walked in we felt welcome and appreciated. The bartender greeted us and, since we were new, took us to the end of the bar and gave us a taste test of Krave's newest and most popular offerings.
I ended up having their signature drink, a kratom (ketum) and kava drink called the Krush. My husband picked up the far tastier ketum-only version of the same drink (not the fault of the venue in any way; kava is bitter and I expected my drink to taste bad). The drinks were very high quality and combined with the chill atmosphere, I was relaxed and unwinding from my long day of travel within minutes.
Krave has a bar, sit-down tables, a game area for board and card games, and a lounge in back for studying, group events or just relaxing away from the chatter of the bar.
There are a variety of herbal drinks from ketum tea and mixes to get you in the mood for studying, work, socialize or just to relieve the tension of the day, to an absolutely delicious longjack coffee. You can buy Mexican Coca-Cola and there are a few other real-sugar sodas as well. Tea and coffee add-ons include ginger, turmeric and stevia if real sugar isn't your thing.
The staff were wonderful, informative and attentive. The venue is small but very cozy and comfortable. It was never too hot or cold in the building.
If you're looking for a pleasant, friendly place to hang out with your friends or do some work or studying, and don't mind that it's a bit pricey ($13 for the Krush), though certainly not unaffordable, definitely give Krave a try. I just wish I lived closer. Definitely...
Read moreVery cool place. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I have had kava a few times in California but was on a trip out to North Carolina when this place came up. I was a little bit nervous going in because I'm not an expert in kava but the woman who greeted us, shook my hand and immediately introduced herself then started sharing a bunch of information about the history of kava, Kratom and Krave.
She was very friendly and patient which is a cool thing for somebody who doesn't know a lot about kava because the experience can be intimidating. Not only did she explain what they had to offer but went into the effects and different taste experience effects, sharing her personal experiences, which made the whole visit almost like hanging out with some friends. She did all this while maintaining constant contact with all the other customers, having different conversations and weaving them into a whole narrative. She was definitely an expert.
Prices are very good and they have a wide variety of kava, kratom yerba mate and maccha. There is a neat back room that has a very chill Vibe where you can go and just experience the sensations. I got some kava to go and with my two drinks and about 12 additional servings it came in under $100.
If I'm ever in North Carolina again I will definitely go back...
Read moreFirst time being here or experiencing kava and kratom. The staff was nice and informative. My friend and I went there and both had different experiences. The staff stated, " it's consumed for the effect and not the taste", they were very much correct. They allow you samples so that you don't waste money on something you wouldn't like. The kava was definitely not tasty, as it's not supposed to be. The ketum tea was tolerable and tasty. We ordered the "Pineapple Crush" and the pineapple definitely helped with the taste. Overall the drink had a relaxing effect and that was all. Kind of like taking 3 benadryl or so. Not a bad thing. It upset my friend's stomach the next morning, but not to my own. Everyone is different. Definitely something one should try...
