The food was great when I came with a good friend for lunch after church yesterday! I am actually very happy as the food was a bit mediocre the last two times I brought people here. Service was fast, and service/host staff was very friendly, but, unfortunately, I could not remember my waitress' name. I was hesitant to come after my last two visits, but I did so because my friend requested it. Thank goodness, as I had a great meal.

The biscuits are amazing, so much so we ate three each, even without any butter or honey, although I do recommendhoney on the biscuit for a taste of heaven. The same goes for the salad, although I will warn people that the dressing is very sweet and, so, I assume not at all healthy in the way people assume salads to be. The sides, as always, were green beans, mashed potatoes, and corn with sausage gravy served on the side. All was great alone, and I enjoyed the potatoes with gravy and some Cholula hot sauce.

My friend and I decided to split the friend chicken and chicken fried steak; in case anyone else has a brainfart like I did, it is fried chicken with bones, not chicken fried chicken. Both were amazing, especially for the price! Neither was too crispy, as I feared it might be with the fried chicken, and the meat was tender and juicy. Chicken fried steak is the better option if I have to pick. Portion sizes are great, so no worries about not being full, and that is without even considering that all sides are unlimited portions. Skipped on dessert, so no comment there. I did want to order the fried catfish, as I love catfish, but changed my mind because it has been way too crispy with too much breading when I got it in the past. However, I saw it come out when a neighboring table ordered it, and I thought that it looked great; good size filets without too much breading.

I'm not a fan of the atmosphere, to be honest. The tables are too close and it's too loud. However, that is just my preference, and I understand that it is the vibe this place actively goes for. What I do sort of hold against this place is that the kitchen is open to the dining floor and a bit distracting if you aren't facing away from it because it has a bright, white light compared to the dining room's soft yellow light. I also do not like the servers doing the hokey pokey. I just sympathize with the servers who do not appear to enjoy it (maybe I am too uptight, but I would be embarrassed). It is also annoying, depending on where you are seated, to have to go around them for the restrooms while they are dancing. Still, the servers did their best to try and seem to like it and smile.

Will definitely come back, though! Food is amazing, especially for the price, and the staff is attentive and friendly. Others reading this, make sure to tip...

Unfortunately I am here to change my 5 star review to the much deserved 1 star as unfortunately they are no longer a 5 star restaurant and haven't been since pre covid! Tonight we had very slow and overall not very good service and on top of the service the food was not good! My daughter took one bite of fish and instantly knew it was bad when i say bad the fish was slimey to touch and had a bad smell l.told the waiter he never pulled the plate or offered anything else! My fried chicken was so dry i chocked on it and of course my drink was empty and a refill until the very end. I had to take a sip of my kids drink. my husband smoked chicken was good but that really seemed like the only editable thing on the table. My daughter didnt end up eating anything because the fish turned her stomach and she just wanted to go home.i couldn't believe a manger or anyone at all for that matter ever visit the table especially after rotten fish.i also couldnt believe they actually changed me $20 for a untouched plate (3 bites one from her one from me and one from my husband) normally i have no problem paying for something i ordered and didnt like but this wasnt the case this time.i spent $100 on a family of 4 just to leave with a hungry child.Babes used to be one of my favorite spots but it seems like ever since they took the ribs away and changed all the ingredients on everything even the mashed potatoes things have just completely down hill.ive had several bad experiences in the couple years but tonight took the cake.things could of gone differently and could have made good by their mistake but instead they choose to do apparently nothing.due to all of the unfortunate circumstances I have since made the decision that my family and friends will never be back to babes because of my last experience because if they are willing to serve bad fish and not do anything about it in not going to support a business like that!I still tipped %20 because I do understand off day's or just ready for the shift to end.but we were the his only table so you would think he would at least pay us a little attention but honestly I know he could have just been having a bad day if not I'm not sure how he has a job.either way I will never know because I will...

Eating at your grandmas house if she made AMAZING fried chicken Atmosphere: This is one of the best parts of babes, you feel like you are both in your home and in a barn. This is one of the most eclectic and fun restaurants in Dallas. Food: $18.99 everything below is included and the sides are unlimited Fried Chicken / - There is no other reason to look at the menu! The fried chicken is mind blowingly good, fresh hot and bursting with flavor. Some of the best american fried chicken you will eat. Green Salad - Iceberg lettuce with some AMAZINGLY unhealthy sweet sauce absolutely killer i love this. Biscuits - Fresh, hot and crispy dabble some honey on it and it will take you to a better place! Mashed Potatoes - Creamy and gravy is delicious dip your chicken in and boom... Green Beans - Meh they are what they are haha Corn - Its fine... Sauce Tip: they have 4 kinds of bottled hot sauce Dessert - $3.99 a slice Banana Cream Pie - Pretty bad honestly VERY sweet to the point it wasnt really edible Cherry Cobbler - This was very good actually a nice way to finish the meal id recommend this one not overly sweet a bit tart. Drinks: Sweet Tea is a Must here very good Parking: Smaller lot but we always seem to get lucky, maybe 20 or 30 spots Service: The absolute nicest staff. Loud rambunctious, play practical jokes on every table and are just the most wonderful people! This is a must visit and eat while in Dallas, you have to make the trip to Carrollton it's worth it
