Smells like country cooking, looks like country cooking, tastes like what I imagine prison food would. I saw all the outstanding reviews and can’t help but wish I’d had their experience. We went on a Friday at around noon. The buffet stock was low, what we did get was very bland. No seasoning-not even a dash of salt or pepper. We tried several items, the one that stood out the most was the sweet potatoes. They were delicious. Our waitress was kind and attentive. The establishment is older and in need of repairs, our booth seats had several tears that had been taped over with duct tape several times. The window seals and blinds were very dusty and grimy. Everything had a very sticky feeling to it. The restrooms needed to be thoroughly cleaned. I kept waiting for a roach to appear, thank goodness it never did! I don’t mind an establishment being older, but that doesn’t mean that you cannot keep it as clean as possible!! We paid $25, that was my husband, myself and our three year old daughter, I felt like the pricing was great. I just wished the experience had been that great also. We tried the chicken, catfish, the shrimp Alfredo, greens, Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes. None of these items would have received than 1...
Read moreI’ve been going to Johnboy’s for over two years now, and the experience has consistently been exceptional. The staff always greet me with a positive attitude and, from what I observe, treat every customer with the same level of kindness and attentiveness. Their attention to detail in making sure everyone is accommodated properly is impressive. Drinks stay full, and tables remain clean—no matter how busy the restaurant gets.
The food is always consistent, prepared to perfection, and served hot. The flavors are spot on and always satisfying to my taste. There’s a great mix of dishes, with a strong foundation in good old Southern cooking—which never disappoints.
The atmosphere feels like a home away from home. There’s a well-balanced mix of music that keeps the energy and spirits high. And the fact that Emily and Korina always make the experience impactful with their silly jokes—making sure you want to come back—just adds that extra touch of warmth and personality that sets this place apart.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted kindly by any staff member passing by. From entry to exit, the kindness and respectfulness remain at 100%.
Johnboy’s truly delivers a pleasant and memorable dining experience, every...
Read moreAs good as could be expected. I won't say it was great or fantastic but it was really good food and it was at a great price. The service was fantastic! The cornbread was almost perfect. It was moist and just the right consistency. If they would just back off the sugar it'd be some of the best I've ever had. Don't get me wrong but sugar just doesn't belong in cornbread, at least not enough to taste. The only reason to put it in at all is if you have bitter cornmeal. I like Corn Cake as much as the next guy, but it flat out sux to have sugar in your cornbread when you eat it in buttermilk or with pinto beans or Brunswick stew, and certainly not in cracklin cornbread! The vegetables were fresh and prepared correctly. The fish was a little over done but not burnt. The hushpuppies were good as were the pinto beans, and the baked chicken was wonderful! Yes I sampled dang near everything. The salad was good and fresh. As for the deserts I tried the Blueberry Cream Cheese pie, and a little Peach Cobler (I just couldn't resist!) And my Tea glass was never empty or out of ice! And that is important for a 100 degree day in October, the hottest on record they say....
