Las Palmas — Restaurant in Cartersville

I'm giving it one star because I don't think I can do less... And.. At least the appetizers were decent... Never actually was able to order real food.

My sister in law and I went on Saturday night 7/29/2017 as a "girls night out" type of deal.. We arrived around 8:45pm... And the restaurant was almost empty, we asked to be seated on the patio because it was a beautiful night and the weather was fantastic!! We received chips and salsa almost immediately after being seated(but had tow a it for tortillas because they were out) , but it took about 25 minutes to get water, and place a drink order... Then three different servers came by to try to take our orders... No one knew what was going on it seemed... We finally got appetizers and the drinks we ordered around 9:30 and some napkins and silver ware around 9:45-10! Only to be informed that they would be closing at 10:30!! We had to go to the bar to order another drink because our server never came back (when I went to restroom, I saw her hanging out in a booth chatting with what appeared to be friends) I guess the bartender told the manager that we had to come to him to order more drinks because our server came storming out the door to patio rolling her eyes shortly after... We ordered cheese dip because there wasn't time to order a meal really... And then never saw server again until after 10:30 when she brought our check. This is ridiculous... When we finally saw her again around 10:30, we asked why they close so early and she informed us that she only works weekends and she just comes in, does her job and leaves... It's not really her problem what time they close. This is soo unfortunate... Because when she finally /initially greeted us... She seemed to have great energy and a wonderful attitude... Having been a server for many years in the past... I know it's not hard to at least fake giving a damn and doing a decent job!!! We didn't go in at the last minute (as some people were arriving and being seated at 10:30) because having been a server... I think that's incredibly rude. I've heard wonderful things about the restaurant and service... Prior to their move to the new location!! I wish I would have had the opportunity to go there... Because this was the worst...

UPDATE: The folks at Las Palmas seem to have ironed out the problems that used to plague this place when it was newer, and we now eat there regularly.

I don't know what's happened to Las Palmas, but ever since they moved to their new location, it's like a different restaurant, and not a good one, I'm afraid. My experiences eating there are much like others who've left poor reviews here, with service being terrible. Who ever heard of terrible service at a Mexican restaurant? Fast service is what they're known for usually. But every aspect of dealing with these folks seem problematic now. We've been ordering to-go orders from Las Palmas for many years, and it was always a simple process. Now, I'm almost at the end of my order, and the woman says she has to put me on hold. I wait several minutes, and a guy gets on the phone, asking if he can help me. Where are we with the order? He knows nothing about it, so it's a do-over. From there the ordering process is painful, as you have to walk through every step of it with this guy. He's trying to be helpful, but that's the problem there now: it's like everyone there has never done this before, or that everyone is a family member that doesn't really know anything about the restaurant. We've had wrong to-go orders, missing key components to orders, etc.. They're always very nice about it, but after you've left with your food order, and it isn't right, the meal is basically a wash. And as someone pointed out on these boards, it's not cheap there. I don't really get what's happened there, but after getting a spanking new building (with booths that are way to crowded and tight by the way) the actual operation of this trusted old restaurant has...
