Today at 11 am, a group of co-workers and myself decided to meet at Barry's cafe. I would like to start by saying this review is not a review of their food nor of the waitress that served us today. In fact the food is delicious and the service we received from the waitress was great. Thirty minutes after receiving our food a lady by the name of Denise (who seems to be a manager) came over to our table and said we have a large party that will be coming in shortly and we need your table. We were a bit confused seeing as though we were surrounded by four empty tables and she made no attempt to relocate us. After finishing our food and gathering our things we proceeded to the register. One of my co-workers asked the incoming party how many people are in their reservation and they replied with "everyone is here". There were a total of five people that came in for that reservation and they comfortably sat at one table. In fact, the table we sat at was cleared and no one from that party sat at the table. After approaching Denise and inquiring why we're asked to leave, she responded with, "If you want to have a meeting here you are more than welcome to call in advance and make a reservation, but I am trying to run a business and if I need your table I will ask you to leave." She said this while giggling and walked away from us saying," "I apologize". This is very upsetting seeing as though I am a former Firefighter and member of the Coast Guard Reserves. The restaurant is decorated in Firefighter memorabilia and it is truly heart warming to see the support and recognition that they give to our Firefighters. However, after experiencing this rude treatment by Denise, I highly suggest that the owner enroll her in a Restaurant Management class because she needs a refresher. It is unfortunate because the food is delicious and again the amount of support that they give to Firefighters make you want to support them. Sadly, after today's interaction with Denise, we will no longer step foot into...

I usually go to another local place where I'm a regular that has plenty of southern offerings, but I was in the area due to an appointment Ilo had that morning so I gave this place a whirl - and I'm sure glad I did! Had the absolute BEST veggie omelet I've ever had, made by friendly cooks, served by friendly and very efficient wait staff (shout out to Evan!)
As for eats: grits, biscuits & gravy, and country style ham were the only southern style food options I noticed on the entire menu; the rest is standard American faire. Grill is out in the open behind the counter "Woolworth's style", and the original round swivel stools at the counter are still in place.
My only complaint is that it's kind of pricey for typical diner menu items - my omelete was on the higher end of average price, but my large tomato juice was $4.50! 😮 That's way more than what the entire container costs lol. Regardless, I'll be back every few months just for that omelet alone and I'll just skip the juice next time. Highly recommend for standard breakfast/lunch food. Very kid friendly and ample parking as it's located in an outside strip of stores attached to a grocery store. Take note, they...
Read moreNot impressed. First Impressions: The table clothes are extremely out-dated. You seat yourself (not really a pro or a con). The wall decor is actually pretty nice. When i sat down, i noticed a hair on my napkin and the cutlery was old and it was poorly cleaned. The food: I ordered the baby burger with everything on it (cheddar cheese) and a side of "fresh" fruit, though upon not even a close inspection, i could tell the fruit was not fresh. The burger was mediocre at best. The burger was not unique in any way and it is easy to replicate it at home. It was not filling at all and honestly didnt taste that great. I had to go out and buy food from Hardees just to be full because this place did not do it for me. The waitress: We barely had one. The price: Overpriced. I would value this meal at $5 if that because a meal at Hardees is $6 or $7 and it will definitely be more delicious and more filling that the meal i had here. Checkout: it took a while for someone to actually assist us in paying for our food. They ask how you found your experience and they clearly arent listening because i complained about it but it was brushed aside. Overall: i am never spending my money here, i recommend going to literally any other place like mcdonalds, burger king, etc. And you can get the same flavor, quality, and service. I regret coming here and have no clue why this place has such a...
