Summary: It's worth checking out. Not my favorite Indian restaurant but has plenty of promise, and I plan to return.
*The vibe: Overall, great.
I went with my family for lunch today (Sunday) at 1pm. It was about 70% full, which was nice because I don't like being the only person in a restaurant, and I don't like waiting for a table either. It was quite clean and there are photos of cricket teams on the walls. It was also a little warm inside, but it is a little weird to run the A/C in the winter, so it was understandable.
The owner/manager was eager for feedback. He mentioned that the restaurant had only been open for 4 weeks. It is a hybrid restaurant where you order food at the cash register/pick up your own water/utensils but then have a sit-down experience the rest of the time. The only feedback I have on the vibe is that the line to order food is a little awkward since there are people looking at the menu who haven't ordered but blocking you from ordering without cutting them in line.
*The food: Overall, nothing special.
I'm always skeptical when restaurants offer both north and south Indian dishes, and my doubts were partially valid. We ordered Gobi Manchurian for an appetizer. It was pretty good, and I recommend it. For the main course, we shared veg korma and kadai paneer accompanied by orders of phulke and parata. There was more than enough food for the three of us, and there was enough food for a fourth person, as well.
The veg korma was not to my liking with a strong mint flavor. The kadai paneer was a little better. Both were spicy enough to make me sweat a little above my brow, which I like. Ordering mango lassis to deal with the spice was definitely the right call. The whole bill for enough food for four people was ~$40, so pretty reasonable for a hybrid sit-down restaurant.
*The Rating: Three stars for the experience and one star for...
Read moreWorst customer service. I would be very happy to give negative rating for his attitude towards customer. The front desk person was so harsh, rude and very arrogant. He was unapologetic for his poor service. Highly dissatisfied with his response towards me. I placed an order for pickup, through their website for 4 goat dum biryani and 1 chicken biryani. I got an email saying my order will be ready in 20 min. I went to pick up my order after half an hour.
Firstly my order was not completely ready. He just kept 1 goat biryani and 1 chicken biryani ready. When I ordered 4 goat biryani. The reason he gave me for that was, “I was not wearing my glasses and I did not check it properly”. He did not even realize the fact that how can 2 biryani cost 78.97$ ??????
Secondly, he said we can only give 2 goat biryani per family. Fine totally accepted. Then why is it the website allowing me to place an order for 4 goat biryani at first place??? He should have updated their website first, before giving customers lame excuses and throwing tantrums towards customers. The reason he gave me for not updating their website was, “that software guy was stuck in india”.... what????? Which world is he living in... that he can’t write a small program to update his damn website????
Third - due to high demand we are giving only 2 goat biryanis per family. He did not even check who the other person was with me, when it was my husband and at the end he gave me 4 biryanis. Then where does his rule of 2 per family applies????
Overall, the front desk person attitude towards customer was unacceptable. He doesn’t acknowledge the fact that, there was a mistake from his end, and he should try to compensate and satisfy the customer and be humble. But he was other way round, and in return he was so rude to me. Kindly please change your attitude...
Read moreMY FIRST RESTAURANT BAN. So let me start out by saying this the food here is amazing, that being said why the 2 stars then? Well their service could be much much better. If you are dining in the restaurant then you are set, but the problem arises when you order online/by phone. Your order will either be confirmed only to be changed by the management without any sort of communication on their part or your order will just in hanging out in the queue and its when you arrive at the restaurant after an hour of your order that they realize you placed an order online. Now I get things happen, maybe once a mistake, twice an oversight but this has occurred over 6 times to me alone and many other times to my friends. Priority is given to bulk orders and dine in guests, if biryani is left after that it is given to online/pickup orders. SO SO disappointed as this was one of our favorite places but the continuous errors and blatant disregard by the management is something that at this point moving forward cannot be ignored.
EDIT: I just left the restaurant, ordered food on Sept 2nd. The owner confronted me on my previous 2 star review and was adamant that it happened only once or twice. I said it happened at least 5 times where my order was either of ored/replaced. I thought of changing my review after today to a more positive one prior to coming into the restaurant but after the owners angry confrontation and being told never to order again from here is truly disappointing. You as an owner could have said it nicely that we'll do better rather than just saying don't ever come back. Very disheartening. Great egoistic way to conduct business and...
