11/6/20. (SEE ATTACHED IMAGES) This place is pretty good and I've been going here for 5+ years. Yesterday my friend and I wanted to try something different from there. Their chicken LoMein and Chicken ChowMein. The LoMein was normal, but the ChowMein was just mainly cabbage. We were confused because any google search of ChowMein shows noodles, but I received cabbage and no noodles.
I called the lady who owns the restaurant and I told her about the problem and I thought I got the wrong item. I went to the location, showed the lady my receipt with the cabbage item that was never opened and not touched. She explained to me that LoMein is noodles and that ChowMein is vegetables. Google images showed that LoMein and ChowMein were both noodles, but just different types of noodles, which is why I made that mistake.
She then told me that she would change it just once and that next time she wouldn't do it for me. I understand that, because it is a small business and that food cost affect them a lot more than large businesses. Even so, the lady knows my face, and knows that I have been a long time customer and that I've always been cordial and I never tried to cause any problems at all in the slightest. Of course she's entitled to say whatever she pleases, but I was not fond of her telling me that next time she will not fix a problem that honestly was not my fault or her fault.
I manage a restaurant myself. Sometimes things just happen where its not the restaurants fault or the customers fault. But personally, I'd never tell a longtime, cordial, problem free customer that I won't fix a problem that they were reasonably misinformed about.
Regardless of this issue, they have good food, they are nice, and I haven't had any crazy issues...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place because the other online reviews I found were favorable and the pictures of food looked good. They are one of the few Asian restaurants near me to offer chow fun noodles, which is my favorite, but their beef chow fun was some of the blandest noodles I’ve ever eaten. I liked that a variety of vegetables was served with the noodles and that the beef was actually tender. But that’s the end of my compliments. There was absolutely no flavor. Nothing was seasoned. And I found a follicle of hair, which made me promptly throw the remaining pile of bland food in the trash. I also ordered sweet and sour pork, which was nicely fried and I really enjoyed the batter. But the sauce was sweet, not sour at all, and a radioactive red. Also, it was way too much sauce for such a small portion. What a waste. The pork egg roll has no pork whatsoever, but it was nicely fried and crispy. The wonton egg drop soup was also bland. The wontons were dense and gummy, as though they were not boiled long enough. And they were filled with what tasted like stale roast pork. That’s not a proper wonton filling. All in all, I was highly disappointed and shocked that people rate the food so highly. I guess people like bland food...
Read moreWe've lived near this restaurant for years but for some reason never tried it. Late on a Friday night the SO and I found ourselves hungry after 9PM on a weeknight in Cary, when they've rolled most of the sidewalks up. Since I was in charge of the operation and time was tight, I decided to give JJ China a try. The dishes ordered were spring rolls, chicken "stix" (kebab-style), beef with broccoli and moo shu pork . And they were all good or even a little better, with the exception of the moo shu, which was quite skimpy on the pork, for which I'm taking away one star. It's a commonly-ordered dish in the upper range of regular entree prices, and the dollar saved on cost of food irritates me. And I sit down restaurant I'd have sent it back. Anyway, there was nothing wrong with the other three dishes. The chicken kabob was pretty generous so I'd give them a quarter star back if I could ;) Overall a positive experience and portions were generous enough that we had a lunch and dinner worth of leftovers which is always a plus. Definitely will try JJ...
