This place was recommended by someone who lives in Cary and I ordered my food online during lunch. I had no idea this store closed after lunch and reopened for dinner. I went to pick up my food around 2:30 thinking the store was still opened but the lunch hour was over so whatever was on the menu to get at a value priced ended at 2 pm and then the price goes to normal menu price. Nope! They closed their doors at 2 pm and reopen at 5 pm.
Now I am upset. I just spent $32.60 and my heart was set on sushi. especially because I just had a baby and I have been longing for a good sushi roll. So I waited until 5 pm and I called the store around the time they reopened and asked the manager for a refund since I did not receive the food at the time I wanted it.
Here's where the story flips into horror for me. He told he would not refund my money because I placed the order online and he waited until 2:20 for me to come get it...but nobody called me to come pick up my food, he only claims he "Waited" for me to get my food.
I was floored when he told me he would not give me my money back. He argued with me and told me he can only give me a credit to come back again. I explained to him multiple times that I do not live here and it would not make sense to take a credit for a restaurant I am not even sure I want to eat at now.
I put my husband on the phone and my husband compromised with him that since we cannot get the money back, to make us a fresh order of the food and we will come pick it up. My husband gets the food and the manager hands him a fresh order and the old order.
Now mind you, We ordered sushi...my husband asked how long was the old order sitting out and the manager's response was "You can still eat it"
WHAT!!!? You've got to be kidding me. Not only was he not giving me my money back, but he was trying to get a lawsuit for food poisoning! I have never been so upset about a service as much as this has upset me, I had to write a review and let everyone know.
This is not the place you want to order from online. Maybe the service would've been better if it was dine in, but his customer service was absolutely horrible, he caused a disservice to me, had no integrity, does not know how to speak to customers, and he created an unnecessary dissatisfied FIRST TIME customer overall, and for that I would NEVER Recommend this place to anyone ever....

FULL STORY ahead:
I thought the atmosphere was decent, with the restaurants layout which reminded me heavily of a small sushi spot I frequented at in Naha, Okinawa. With the exception we stayed in chairs as opposed to sitting on more authentic cushions from when I lived abroad.
Now, the bad, and the ugly.
My family, and I initially did a walk up, and decided on putting a reservation later that evening. Despite putting in a reservation, we arrived at 8:24 prior to 8:30 ( reservation time) and was STILL seated at the bar. Not worth fighting for, we carried on with our night.
After putting in our order approximately 10 minutes later, we waited for on, or about 30 minutes with no server to re-fill water, check on status of our order, etc. finally about 9:15, we had a different server come over and let us know the kitchen was backed up, and behind on orders. Normally, again, I would be ok with issues like this, however they could have told us that the kitchen was backed up and to expect extremely high wait times. Later that evening we found out it was to prioritize an Uber Eats/ to go order AKA someone who didn't even bother leaving their home to come here.
My son, and wife disappointed ended up just asking for our sushi rolls to go. At exactly 9:31 we finally arrived with our food. Again highly disappointed. OVER AN HOUR since arriving with no courtesy, or professionalism. To make matters worse all our orders were mixed up when we got to our destination, the sushi rolls sizes were EXTREMELY UNDERWHELMING ( especially for the higher price we paid for.)
I am usually the one who has patience in our relationship for food service, since we both came from the service industry, but this restaurant by far falls flat on almost every pillar which makes eating out great. Read the other low reviews, and you will see this is an unhealthy trend. The taste was ok at best after everything, but i couldn't help but feeling cheated, and taken advantage of my kindness by Genki Sushi towards the end of the night. NEVER in my 30+ years of eating out within this country, and abroad in other destinations have I experienced this lousy of an experience with the staff having little regard for their...
Read moreI went tonight with my boyfriend and the experience was not that great. We ordered the dynamite shrimp, and the shrimp was tough from being overcooked. After this, I ordered the crushed walnut shrimp. They brought out a soup and salad before which were both great. I got my entree and it was the exact same shrimp with the exact same sauce on top, but they had put walnuts on the top. The shrimp had the same tough texture, which made me believe that they had fried the shrimp in the same batch as our appetizer, since we had ordered our entrees and appetizer at the same time. I had to really put some muscle into cutting the shrimp with my fork, because itwasjust that tough. It came with vegetables and rice. Half of the plate was vegetables that looked like they came from a frozen bag of stir fry mix (broccoli, carrots, green beans, and onions). There was maybe 10 shrimp on my plate. I did not think it was worth the 20 dollars that they charged us for just my entree alone. I can get triple the amount of shrimp with a better texture at Panda Express for half the price. It wasn't the worst I've ever had, but I don't think I...
