I have enjoyed going to this Starbucks for many months now as a new resident to Raleigh but will not be coming back unfortunately.
The last time I was here, I was asked by the barista at the drive thru if I wanted to leave a tip to which I replied as I always do when greeted by a male voice with a nonchalant “yessir”.
I looked up and noticed that while the barista had a male voice, they mostly likely would not have identified with ‘male pronouns’.
Am personally a HUGE supporter of LGTBQ causes but the barista at this Starbucks seemed to take offense and repeatedly referred to me as a lady numerous times the rest of the order - clearly to make a a point that they were angry with my genuine mistake.
I’ll admit I made a mistake in assuming that a male voice would identify as ‘he/him’ but the way this barista handled the situation was HORRIBLE and forced me to have a very uncomfortable conversation with my 4 year old son who was in the back seat about why presumably the barista was calling us all all ladies even tho we were clearly not. Again, I am assuming here she was intentionally making this obvious mistake to make us all feel very uncomfortable about me accidentally using male pronouns (when I wasn’t even looking up) by INTENTIONALLY referring to us all as females repeatedly the rest of the order even tho we were right in front of them.
I am posting this so the owner of this Starbucks knows that they have a hostile barista who is chasing away customers as I will never come here again with my family.
Again- HUGE supporter of LGBTQ causes but am NOT a supporter of how this individual chooses to promote their point of view and will NEVER dine here again and will happily go further to another Starbucks to avoid this person all together as they clearly have some problems which is why the owner needs to be made aware of the impact to the customer experience. I wish them well as they clearly have been through a lot - but they should NOT take it out on loyal Starbucks customer just trying to buy a latte with their...
Read moreNormally this location is a good store but recently the baristas there get very personal with writing things on cups. I noticed this at all Starbucks locations but it’s bizarre to be honest. I’m not sure what inspired the trend but it’s just unusual, I like to come in, place an order and grab a cup but the baristas go through this extra step of adding graffiti to the cups and with wet drinks the market smears all over your hands. Things written almost feel like the baristas are trying to communicate in a way, it’s honestly unusual and it doesn’t help baristas who might be trying to pursue better labor agreements.
If there’s a certain expectation to get drinks out doesn’t it hurt them to waste time drawing all over the cups? It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when it can cause customers in line, drive thru, the mobile app to wait even longer to get drinks
Just focus on making the drinks, give the drinks once customers pay and keep it moving, don’t be overly into every cup you get, instead finish what comes through and then use that time not for drawing but resting
I think it’s another Starbucks policy attempting to get customers to feel touched by a unique experience with Starbucks but it’s unnecessary
I go to Caribou coffee or Dunkin’ Donuts and they just make the orders and make them available. That’s it, no art class, no overtly unique approach, no over the top attempts at conversing or what have you, they just do the job and keep things moving.
Honestly if Starbucks wants to make a self checkout or Ai to perform the task simply as it should be, the baristas, corporate, management is encouraging that by doing all this extra stuff that just isn’t necessary. Just pour the drinks, take the money and repeat until the days over
Otherwise...

I have always enjoyed my experience with ordering a beverage at Starbucks and today was no different. However, what was not pleasant was getting to work and the entire contents of my Venti hot tea going all down the front of me (including my pregnant belly). As I sit here cherry red with burns and slathered in aloe vera gel, a few things come to mind. First of all, why does the hot water get served a lava-boiling temperatures? Why, this time, was the cup not given to me double-cupped with a stopper? And why, finally WAS THE LID NOT SECURELY TIGHTENED? All it takes is it sloshing onto a hand, which causes a person to flinch (because the hot water is as hot as the center of the sun), and with a lid not secure... there it goes, everywhere down the front of you!
I'm sure I looked spectacular ugly-crying as I went inside to request a new cup of tea this morning. I'm sure I freaked out the poor barista who apologized half a dozen times for the window barista's mistake. But, I'm also sure I will go there again because a mistake is a mistake and everyone at that location is kind and excellent with their customer service.
Please, in the future, ask your employees to be more mindful about what hot water can do. A stopper and double cupping goes a long way as does making sure the...
