After noticing a rather long line at the drive thru I felt it would be in my best interest to order inside. Upon entering(first time inside) I saw where a line had formed of about 2-3 people. I placed my order for the mango dragonfruit as my wife is craving fruity items(8 months pregnant). After placing my order I stepped to the side and patiently awaited my order. During my a customer who placed her order prior to mine shared with the manager that she felt she had been waiting a long time. I overheard her conversation and the apologetic manager provided her with a free gift card to resolve her dismay. I continued to wait, and wait until I noticed that each and every person who ordered before me and after me had already received the caffeinated beverages. So I inquired about the current status of my “pre-measurable red liquid located in the refrigerator that merely needed to be combined with ice and a spoonful of raspberry/dragonfruit particles and water.” The manager noticed my attempt and proceeded to make my wife’s fruity concoction. I then asked,” what signifies importance or priority of drinks ordered?” He shared that inside allows mobile as well as in-person orders to be placed whereas the drive thru does not. Mental note, drive thru only from now on for my wife’s fruit craving requests. The reason why I share this experience is the comment that was mentioned by the assumed manager just after the explanation of online ordering which he shared,” Plus, as you can see, we are busy.” Verbatim. As I allowed myself to digest his comment I veered over to the order line where I saw a total of three people waiting and only one, one other person waiting patiently for their order next to me. During that moment I thought, isn’t this Starbucks, isn’t busy all-the-time?! My wife and I are both not coffee drinkers, at all, so we don’t frequent Starbucks other than with friends and family. I then reconciled to account for my time waiting to see if I was such a bother that a comment such as this was warranted. I was not offered a “gift card” for my waiting period as the elderly woman was so kindly presented nor did I receive an apology for the delay until I was walking out the door. Rather just a list of possible excuses. I was not boisterous or showcasing an under-caffeinated attitude at any point in time during my transaction however I felt the response that was given to me was handled differently than that of the other customer. Was it because I was in my gym-wear and the other customer was bundled up with her professional-looking work attire? Unwarranted attitude is not necessary in a professional environment and I felt compelled to share...
