This place came in clutch, we actually drove to Castroville 25 min with two littles to find a taco truck that wasn't actually there. I'd seen the good reviews for this place, we decided to check it out. Right off the bat Heather was so pleasant and sweet to my social 4 y/o. She brought him to the kitchen so he could say hi to the chef and see the pizza oven (from afar, lol) Highly recommend getting the cheese bread appetizer, its about as big as the pizzas themselves and it was the star of the show. The pizza itself was amazing, the crust was perfect. We think the ranch is made in house, too. Everything was stellar. We were appreciative of the two little arcade games they have, my older child was getting impatient and hungry and this kept him distracted and close hy.This place came in clutch, we actually drove to Castroville 25 min with two littles to find a taco truck that wasn't actually there. On the tables that help keep flies away, they also have a lot of fans outside in general. They said that we could sit inside at the cider place next door though, if the heat got to be too much. 100/10 experience, will be coming back for sure.

First time visiting The Dough Station. It had amazing reviews. There is very limited parking and we parked on the street behind the business. It is a corner business, an old gas station so not very big. There are a couple high top tables and a long table along the wall as well as a few picnic tables outside. The inside temperature was WARM. The oven heats it up and it was really hot outside. They had a few fans inside the restaurant but they didn’t help much. Plus the flies were buzzing all around. I wouldn’t come back to eat here again in the summer or anytime it is hot unless you just want to sit there and sweat. Better place to go in the winter but even then there is such limited seating. There was a large variety of pizzas. We chose 3 different ones. All come in the same size 14”. I agree with another reviewer that there needs to be more meat or more toppings. $25/pizza and they were very skimpy on the toppings. The cheese bread was great. I’d get that again. As far as the other 3 pizzas, the meat one the family liked, the special pizza was ok, but the white pizza is one we wouldn’t order again. The crust was perfect for the pizzas. I hope that never changes. Had a beer along with dinner as well. Happy hour prices are 4-6pm. $5/draft. We live far west side of San Antonio so we don’t have a lot of great restaurants nearby. Castroville, is close and we frequent it often. So we are glad to see a pizza place we like nearby. Just hoping for a few changes and a resolution for the seating/dining. I was telling a friend about it and she said it sounded perfect until I mentioned there is no AC. The street noise is loud as well…and I never like sitting too close to a busy road. Will return but not for a few months. I also really appreciate any business willing to recognize service members with a discount.

Honestly this place surprised me. Most restaurants/new business in Castroville are just run by some random people out of town who had extra cash lying around and think that their new business will be profitable. The only places that stay are the icons, like magnolias or that one Jalisco restaurant on the hill. Most close after only a couple years. This place however was so delicious I truly think it will stay in business. I used to think Grimaldi’s in SA was the best pizza in the area but holy cow. The crust was so perfectly crispy and also fluffy. The chisme bread was so freaking good, and the pizza I got was a little droopy but made up for it with the flavor. It was really the best pizza I’ve ever had. I mean, the crust was so good I damn near tore my brothers head off when he tried to throw it away. He don’t like pizza crust but I took it, dipped it in some marinara and enjoyed. Also the ranch being so good for 1$ extra. WOW, most places are ALWAYS trying to rip you off. I left full, happy, and feeling like I got my moneys worth. Wish they had some beer to go though, and some anti mosquito stuff around the patio. And I wish they were open more, but it sort of adds to the mystique that they’re open during some random...
