You always know what you're getting at SONIC. Fast, good tasting, inexpensive comfort foods and great, creative slushes and milk shakes. I usually order from their app and pre-pay. The app is easy. They have lots of great promos for even better deals or freebies and you can always get half priced drinks and slushes anytime by using the app instead of just happy hours they usually advertise. This SONIC in particular never seems to be busy. If you travel north on Date Palm towards the 10 freeway you will need to pass it and drive to the next light and make a U-turn before you can access their entrance. Not a problem, but it is annoying. Their signage is small and is hard to see. You could drive right by it even at night and not realize you passed it. After you order from the app and arrive there, you pull into an open car stall and check in by logging in your stall number to let them know you are here. It usually takes under the 5 to 7 minutes they estimate on the app. You can also view your name on the stall screen after checking in or the order progress on the app on your phone. Out comes the food from the friendly, efficient, masked and gloved roller skating employee and your order is at your car! During COVID, when your order arrives, have your mask on. My order review: Popcorn chicken and a side of signature sauce. Very good. Unsauced makes it easier to eat in the car. Cherry lemonade slush. Really delicious but super sugary sweet. 3.. Mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce (it comes with the sauce and you don't have to add it to your order is the way it is supposed to be). I asked the employee when I received the bag if the marinara sauce was in there and she assured me it was. She left, I opened my bag and the marinara sauce wasn't there. Second time it's happened specifically at this one. It's why they lost a star (and that they still have closed restrooms due to COVID when others are open now). The only way to get now get the missing marinara is to get out of my car and go to the kitchen entrance glass door and get someone's attention and they will get it for you which I did. They went back and got it for me. Helpful hint: Check your bag for everything before letting the employee skate away! They are more than happy to stay there to make sure everything is there and usually have missing condiments, straws, and napkins with them. Overall, SONIC is a good value for really tasty fast food comfort foods. This one is nice, clean, quick, and everything always tastes good. Just make sure your sauces are...
Read moreI was VERY disappointed in my meal. The description of the all-beef hotdog said it was "grilled to perfection and topped with ketchup, yellow mustard, relish and chopped onions". What iI got was a plain hotdog that certainly had not seen a grill and that had no condiments with it at all. I even had to ask for mustard. No napkins were provided either. Drinks were fine. We will go back, but I sure hope what I get matches the menu description! I need to add something here. After leaving the above-review I received an email from the owner telling me to contact the General manager of the Cathedral City Sonic Drive In; when I did, she apologized for what happened and told me to come back for a complimentary meal including the hot dog. What Service! This just doesn't happen in this day and age. So they made a mistake; that's good to know. So go to this location for some really good food. I went back two days later and ordered the same thing. I could NOT believe the difference. The hot dog with its condiments was just great - couldn't recommend it more highly. AND I got napkins and the usual red and white candies that they've had in the past. What a great place to buy really good quick food. Thanks, all of you at the Cathedral City...
Read moreSonic has been a life-long favorite for a quick bite on the road or at home. At this location though, I've encountered a very unique problem that occurred while at the drive through window.. I ordered a brioche breakfast sandwich for $5.29, so with tax it was$5.65..no problem yet.. the cashier asked if I needed a receipt, & I said, "No, I don't think I need it." I paid with $5 & a $1. She brought me the change of a quarter (.25). When she brought the sandwich, I asked about the total and then told her that .35 would be the correct change back. She looked at the register and informed me that it said that I only get .25 back. I counted up from .65 to $1 demonstrating that it was indeed .35. She reluctantly asked me how much I needed back, to which I responded "10 cents, please". I'm confident that 65 + 35 still equals 100. Should I really have had to negotiate for the correct change? Although I do love Sonic and the sandwich was fresh and tasty.. I'm fearful about going to this...
