We were anxious to try Kiki Rae’s and reserved an outdoor table for 6 a month in advance to celebrate my birthday. Only outdoor seating was available. Living in Arizona we had no qualms about sitting outside in late December. Unfortunately the night of our reservation it was pouring rain and cold. We arrived and hesitantly seated outside on the back patio. The rain was only light at this point, I was sure it was going to be cold and uncomfortable. Kiki’s servers went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable outside we had blankets and several patio heaters. We bundled up and ordered drinks and fantastic appetizer of coconut shrimp. The staff was awesome they came out while we were enjoying our apps and said they were keeping an eye on the radar and heavy showers were coming so they were prepping a table inside. as soon as one freed up. The showers came just as our dinner arrived and I have to say it felt like the entire staff came out and everyone grabbed plates and drinks and the birthday gifts and the hurried us inside. What I was anticipating to be a disastrous birthday dinner was fabulous due to the excellent staff and wonderful food. The birthday dessert they brought out topped it all off. I was so happy to get a reservation and it was worth the wait. The weather made it an adventure and the staff made it a great evening. Thank...
Read moreThe restaurant is wide open bright with a friendly atmosphere. Big beautiful outside deck offering cool scenery. All of which is wheelchair accessible. Our waitstaff Devin was cheerful and a delight to talk with. Tried the coconut shrimp and their cauliflower bits for appetizers. Shrimp tasted good but not even a hint of coconut. I'm not sure how the cauliflower was cooked but it was tasteless and had a foam like texture. I ordered the porterhouse pork chop. The chop itself was overcooked and unseasoned. It was drowned in their chutney which was just diced caramelized apples with no distinct flavor. Garlicky mashed potatoes was plated with an ice cream scoop and was not garlicky tasting. The broccolini tasted good but the way it was plated lacked any creative design so it just looked wilted. Wife had the huli chicken with rice. Said the chicken was tasty but the blubbery skin was left on. The rice was overcooked with no lime flavor that the menu hinted of. It was my wife's birthday and she was excited for the carrot cake but decided not to take a chance. So with all said I won't give Kiki's a 2nd try because the prices are pretty steep for what you get. I mean the portions are huge but not to...
Read moreThis was our first visit and likely to be our only one. ACOUSTICS: poor leaving the 6 of us not able to converse. LOCATIONS/DIRECTIONS: We ALL went up and down Cave Creek 3 times, using Google Maps, to try to find the restaurant that has NO sign on it nor any directional signage on the street to direct you to the back of the shopping area it is in. FOOD: Mediocre. Three of our guests ordered the Halibut and when the plates arrived each piece of halibut was less than 1/2" thick--it appeared that they were running out of the fish for the evening so they took the pieces they had and sliced them into thirds. Result, dry and tough fish, with no sauce at all to accompany it. The flat iron steak was quite good, but the "pommes frites" were all tough and cold. SERVICE: It took forever to get water and as well as our cocktails. Our server was delightful, but overall the service was quite slow. There was a mix-up with our reservation but the restaurant quickly corrected it. We recommend sticking with the owners' first restaurant, Raven's View, as it is outstanding and never any quality issues there, in all the years...
