Mezcalitos — Restaurant in Cedar Falls

My #1 complaint isn’t about the restaurant but if the location and parking lot as on a regular day there’s hardly any available parking (and it’s not from folks being in the restaurant it’s from others going into the other buildings that make up the small strip mall area where the restaurant is located).

The food seems a little inconsistent at times. This was my 3rd visit and the first two times it was perfect. The last time my ground beef burrito had a lot of chunks of ground beef in it (it shouldn’t be chunky).

Also they were playing YouTube videos on the tv in the bar. Several of the videos were inappropriate for children and I had two kids under the age of 12 with me that were getting an education on machine guns and women in very tiny thong bikinis. I’m guessing that’s not a regular occurrence...

$40 for takeout order of two margaitas and a large chips and queso. "Large" queso was two small dip cups which were half full. Wasn't even enough dip for one person. Told 10-15 minutes for pick up. Arrived 15 minutes later and they didn't even know about my order. Sent me to the bar and the bartender made my order while I stood and waited. It was Cinco de Mayo, however it was 8 pm and they were not highly busy. Everyone was seated and had food. My order was only two drinks and chips and queso. Two dip cups half full does not equate to a large queso even if the excuse is being "busy". Expensive for what was received. Very disappointing. Not sure if I will try...

Honestly this restaurant has a good atmosphere but lacks in quality of food and service. The food here is barely authentic and way too expensive for what you get. I got the enchiladas and it seemed like they were covered in a layer of melted shaker parmesan cheese. don’t know why anyone would put that on enchiladas especially such an amount it was hard to eat. The drinks were good but again way too expensive. Service was pretty bad, our server talked so quiet you could barely hear him and had an attitude if you didn’t respond. Glad I tried the restaurant out, but most likely won’t...
