Ordered a bacon cheeseburger and garlic mayo fries. Right away it felt like taking our order was an unwelcome chore for the older gentleman working the register. Didn't ask if we wanted sides/drink or if we wanted our burger special in any way. I asked whether the burger had American cheese on it and the man mumbled something about American cheese. Told the order taker I wanted to add ketchup, mustard and mayo on the burger. Order taker said, 'we have packets of each.' If I didn't have another person with me I would have just walked out at this point.
Food comes, no garlic mayo on the fries. Man who took the order also brought out the food. Let him know I ordered garlic mayo fries so he comes back with a cup of garlic mayo. Also didn't get any packets of condiments which I pointed out. Had assumed since customers aren't allowed refills because of COVID that the kitchen would include requested condiments but nope, the man went and grabbed them from communal packets next to the pop machine.
Their fries are probably good on their own. Seemed to be a nice crispiness and texture but that was ruined by the "garlic mayo" which is runny like an aioli and tastes like just a mouthful of garlic. Mayo is thick and creamy. A good garlic mayo works because of the contrast between the garlic and the creaminess of the mayo. I shouldn't have been able to pour it over my fries(big mistake, ruined the fries.)
The burger left a lot to be desired. Every time I bit into it, a string of undercooked bacon fat would hold on and pull the rest of the toppings out. Bacon on a burger should be crispy by default. Speaking of doneness, medium-well should be the default for burgers. I see no indication that this place buys whole cuts of beef then makes their own ground beef from that. Hopefully I'm wrong but if not, I seriously do not appreciate being served undercooked ground beef.
For a burger place where the basic burger starts at $10 without sides or a drink, this place makes a lot of amateurish mistakes. Whiskey Road, Pump Haus, and Peppers are all much better than this place at a similar...
Read moreVisited Oh My Grill on College Street in Cedar Falls for the first time on Monday June 20th. We got there at about 12:30pm and were able to walk right to the counter and order. (Oh, did I mention this is a counter order restaurant?) We had taken the time to review the menu a bit prior to arrival, and I would suggest you do the same, as their burgers are rather "over the top." For example, I ordered the The Wake n’ Bake, which is a burger pattie layered with a hashbrown pattie, grilled pepper and onion, an over easy egg, american cheese, halal beef bacon, and house-made maple glaze. (picture included.) My wife got The King, which was a beef pattie including crispy onion strings, halal beef bacon, mayo, pickle, barbeque sauce, and smoked gouda cheese. We both gave the burgers 5 stars. And, check this out ... when the burgers and fries were served to our table, a dish of their special "dipping sauce" was included, and it was perfect for the fries!!!
Now ... you've all been waiting, so here it is. A restaurant like this, in a location like this (2 blocks away from a major University) has to go the extra mile to succeed. Yep, I paid a trip to the restroom and was VERY MUCH IMPRESSED with the cleanliness. I would encourage the management if they read this, to keep it up, as everyone knows how tough it can be to set a high bar in a College...
Read moreI sat at a table that looked empty while waiting for my order and a older man comes right up to me and throws his Togo bag of food right in front of my face and leans down and gets 2 inches from my face and tells me I am sitting at his table and I need to get the hell up. He hovered over me and threatened me and made me feel completely unsafe. I am a young petite female and he violated my space accusing me of taking his table of which he was not anywhere around when I sat down, there are about a million other ways he could of healthily and politely told me that it was his table and if I could please move but instead he chose to get enraged and use anger and force and tried to make me feel completely helpless and unsafe. I then approached the on staff worker and told him of the situation and was told that I was the problem and that he didn’t see what happened and I needed to leave. A female should never be violated in this way in a public space and the way the worker handled this was absolutely wrong and makes this establishment very unsafe for females to be at if the workers refuse to protect a woman being...
