Disappointed Regular – Quality Has Steadily Declined

I used to be a loyal customer at the Black Rock Coffee Bar in Cedar Park, often visiting multiple times a week. It was my go-to spot for quality coffee, a good atmosphere, and consistent service. Unfortunately, over the past three to four months, the experience has noticeably declined—and it’s been frustrating to watch one of my favorite places go downhill.

The biggest issue is the coffee itself. Lately, every drink has had an overwhelmingly burnt taste, as if the beans are being over-roasted or reused beyond their quality threshold. Instead of that rich, smooth flavor I used to look forward to, it now tastes harsh and unpleasant—something you’d expect from a last-resort gas station brew, not a specialty coffee shop.

To make matters worse, I’m now paying close to $20 for just two drinks—and the portion sizes feel smaller than ever. That might be tolerable if the quality matched the price point, but when you’re paying a premium for what tastes like scorched beans in a tiny cup, it’s just not worth it.

It’s disappointing, because this location had so much potential and once truly delivered. I kept giving it another shot, hoping things would bounce back, but after repeated visits with the same poor results, I’ve finally decided this will be my last. If I wanted a bitter, burnt coffee experience, I could easily head to a chain like Starbucks—and at least know what I’m getting.

I hope the team at Cedar Park Black Rock takes these kinds of experiences seriously and makes the necessary improvements. Right now, it’s just not living up to the quality or value that...

I was driving all over Cedar Park and visited forur coffee houses trying to fulfill a large order for my daughter and her soccer team. The first three didn't accept cash, and I was told this is now a "thing". Maybe it's a "thing" here, but it's not a "thing" where I'm from (Colorado) or anywhere else I've been. Needless to say, they lost out on more than just my business. I finally came to Blackrock and realized I should have stopped here to begin with. They were more than happy to take my cash and I was rewarded with an excellent cup of coffee, a great attitude, and stellar service! Unfortunately, the kids ran out of time for breakfast and we didn't get to place that large order with them, but I made sure to let everyone on my kiddo's team and the other teams where they needed to go for their coffee. Disappointed I didn't get to sample the tasty looking food and give a rating, but I'm definitely going to be back on my next trip here to give it a try. I won't be going anywhere else for my coffee and neither should you! Give these guys a shot and you won't be...

Waited over 15 minutes for a simple cup of iced coffee on a Sunday afternoon - and paid almost $6 for it. Despite no shortage of baristas on hand on a Sunday afternoon, and it not being particularly crowded, they seemed to prioritize the folks in the Drive Thru lane instead of those of us who actually parked and walked inside the newly-built cafe. Nary a "hello" or a "welcome" was heard. And to top it all off (no pun intended!) I was unknowingly charged for the tiny amount of almondmilk they poured into my concoction. Yet they begged for a tip at checkout before all of this began.

Chains like this should be avoided. Stick to supporting truly local establishments like Summer Moon, or ones with a cause like THE Black Rifle...

Black Rock Coffee is the café that caters to everyone— a menu featuring coffee, frozen drinks, tea, energy drinks, rotating seasonals (for those who love novelty!), flavors out the wazoo— and to eat- a daily selection of breakfast tacos and bagels until 11am, and a supremely delicious case of pastries served all day. To top it all off— Black Rock Coffee is going to be a premiere place to bring your laptop, plug in and get some work done. Bring your headphones to block out sound but expect to stay a long time because every seat in the house has plush cushions and even has a set of armchairs, perfect for reading or kicking it with a friend. Sooo thrilled to have you in Cedar Park, Black Rock Coffee!

The holiday drinks are available. The Gingerbread Latte was excellent. After all the extras, such as soy, the total was a few dollars less than Starbucks. Affordable, great quality coffee, peaceful atmosphere with comfortable seats, clean tables, and most especially friendly staff. I've found my favorite coffee spot. The pastries such as danishes, scones, croissants, and cinnamon knots are available. Tacodeli tacos are available until 11 am, which sells out fast. I found this place after dropping off my Boston Terrier at the Pet Paradise for a day camp about two doors down. Black Rock Coffee Bar also has points rewards.

Okay this is a really weird one, My wife and I came here for the 1st time. The place is cool but at one of the big windows on the inside were a bunch of bees, yes one the inside! And they did not seem concerned in the least, too bad for those that are allergic. The employees here have no uniforms, all are just wearing random cut off shorts and skimpy shirts, the creamer amount in your coffee is determined by them exclusively, no trash can by the condiments, music is way too loud, sounds like a night club. This place needs to rethink their marketing strategy for sure. 50/50 on the recommendation.
