A very special lunch. I love Mediterranean food. I decided to treat myself considering I have to tolerate 2 medical appointments this week. My doctor says it comes with aging, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Anyway, I’ve been wanting to try Leila’s Mediterranean café for a while now. This week was the week. I arrived around 2 PM and there were several people dining scattered about the dining room, which is quite large and very casual. There is a TV (which was off.) There was music playing, which was reflective of the culture and I enjoyed it immensely. You go to the counter to order, of which I was not sure since it was my first time there . It’s toward the back of the property when you get there you’ll see quite a large menu above you on the wall above the food prep area and I was hungry, so I really didn’t study at all that well but I will on my next trip. I ordered a.Gyro Plate. I also ordered a soda. I’ll speak to the soda. Unfortunately I chose Fanta orange and I guess the flavor must have been outdoor very low because of I could taste was fizz. I did not bother to tell them or I’m sure they would have refreshed the fountain drinks. My Gyro meat was chopped and very easy to eat. It was very tasty, spiced lightly. The meat was on a bed of jasmine rice, which was perfectly cooked. There was a side of tzatziki sauce-which went well with the salad in the meat. In the last compartment, there was a chopped salad with tomato, lettuce, onion, Greek olives, &cucumber. They placed a large Naan and some red and white, checked serving paper, and that completed the meal. It was more than adequate for one and could have easily been shared by two people. I’d like to try some other things here and I did see several people ordering the chicken so I may try that next time. I thought the food was good, the service good and the...
Read morePlaced order online thru postmates. Got text saying order was ready. Went to pick it up. When I got there gave my name at front counter and was told by guy wearing Grey shirt saying "I used to be people person, but people ruined me" , probably not the best thing to wear for customers. But he said It would be 15 mins more. Just kind of brushed me aside. 20 mins later, I'm still waiting on my order, then 10 mins later I go and ask him how much longer. He's like what's the name? Which I just told him earlier. Then he says that he doesnt have that order, even though he told me earlier that they were working on it. I showed him my order receipt and he goes "Ummm let me look". He walks over to the counter and grabs on an order bag that I saw him place on the counter 15 mins earlier, which turned out to be my order and was literally sitting there the whole time I was waiting. Then when I got home to eat my food, the onion rings I ordered tasted burned. Like they were cooked with old oil. The beef kebabs were overcooked and dry. I would say not very good...
Read moreThis place has sooo much potential. Really should hire someone and help renovate, the mere set up is poor, I'm all about a hole in the wall but the menu is ill placed, have to stand in the dining area to read it. This is my 2nd stab at it and will no be going back. As several others posted here the Pita is HORRIBLE!! I mean horrible! Flattened all the nice puffy air taken out of what we know to BE A PITA and then rolled in aluminum foil, why would you roll these up like they are tortillas! STOP YOUR DOING YOUR CULTURE A DISSERVICE! Again another reason to get someone to assist with renovating the inside and menu. Plenty of shows on this out there. Might want to check out some other local spots like Levant Cafe amazing pita! I go back for that!
The meat is laid on the rice and it's soooo oily! The rice had potential not sure if we re use it and add water but it was kind of watery and oily if that makes sense.
Humus was good but the pita was not good..... actually threw away 3/4 of my meal.... will not be...
