Had to check out Nervous Charlie’s. Bagels are one of the delightful foods I choose-that remind me of my Saturday morning walk up to the bagel shop of my childhood in Detroit, Michigan. I had been hearing about this new bagel bakery in Cedar Park for a couple of months now, and have been very excited to try it out. It’s nice to think we have a good bagel place for traditional New York style bagels this close to my home. In the past when I wanted bagels I would go into Austin. Nervous, Charlie has lots of bagel, breakfast and lunch sandwiches on the menu. Some are very traditional and of course you can always build your own. I wasn’t there for a meal. I came specifically to purchase a dozen bagels and some cream cheeses to go with them. The property is a nice bright little spot tucked back in a newer shopping center off of FM1431 . I was there around 1:30 PM. There were a few customers finishing up what looked to be bagel sandwiches and coffees. The customer service was very prompt, and the young lady was very helpful. The menu is posted right in front of the counter where you order so it was very easy to choose my dozen. (13). I ordered sesame, everything, garlic, onion, plain, French, toast, 13 grain, cinnamon raisin and salt. I also ordered 8 ounces of veggie cream cheese, and 8 ounces of honey walnut cream cheese . I do wish they had a bagel slicer, but I know a lot of bagel lovers feel that it just dries out the bagel too much to slice them unless you’re going to eat them right away Consistency of the bagels is great. They are New York style. It seems as though they are boiled and then baked, which is what makes them so delicious. We think they’re very tasty and we’ve been enjoying them toasted with cream cheese . Thanks Nervous Charlie’s for bringing bagels to my neck of...
Read moreI was drawn here because Nervous Charlie's has been voted best bagels in Austin several years running and this locations opened October 2023. Unfortunately the service and product didn't live up to expectations.
Tips: cash in not accepted here and ordering is either done via touchscreen kiosk in-person or online via Toast. Online orders can be picked up through a glass window, around the corner from the main entrance. There is a decent amount of parking around the shopping area.
Experience: When you order, the screens tell you what is or is not available, yet in my case, two of the bagels that I ordered were not available and I was made aware of that 10 minutes after I placed my order in-person. My total wait time, for two sandwiches and two "half dozen" bagels, was 21 minutes at an off-peak time with 6-7 staff visible in back. Shortly after I left, I realized that the order was missing two cream cheeses ($7 each) and the staff combined the two "half dozen" bagel orders ($12 each) into one massive paper bag. Both of the foil wrapped sandwiches were cold and the sticker labels distinguishing the Classic ($8) from the Longhorn ($11), were reversed. For $62 in total cost and 21 minutes of waiting, I'd expect a lot more. While the sandwiches were cold and bagels seemingly a day old, it tasted like quality ingredients are used, so I can understand why folks like this place but under better circumstances. I don't think that I'll be back to try it...
Read moreReads as a 3.5 star as the service was friendly but I teeter on some of the kinks they may want to work thru to make better return experience for our future visit to the CP location.
I placed an order online however the order was never confirmed so upon arriving I had to speak with someone at the counter who then had to go in and get it thru and then proceeded to make the order. For our wait, I was offered a coffee or cupcake while we wait.
The folks who ordered in person were taken care of swiftly and there was a runner calling out the name for hand off, however those who ordered online would have been missed. Like we were. So after an additional amount of people after us had been taken care of, we reapproached the counter and stated our name on the order again and only then did we have our order in hand.
Bagels we're NY style and tons of cream cheese which I picked up the jalapeño cheddar and spicy schmear, hubs went with the multigrain everything with garlic chive which was just as tasty. Artwork and ambiance is cute, and on a better less rainy day, we would've been happy to sit outside on their porch tables.
We'll skip the next online order experience and go for ordering in person til they get their system down but I noticed a walk up window on the side, and delicious lunch bagel sandwiches for our next nom when we...
