Inconsistent recipes and subpar service. We ordered two pursuits of happiness first and they were good, average, but good. After we ordered another and it was completely different in smell and taste. It smelled like a fire pit, not a good smoke smell, and tasted terrible, nothing like the first two. We checked the menu and the drink we ordered does not describe it as containing smoke but another similar one does. My friend went to the bartender to inquire and the she just told her she made it and that it was correct. So my friend came back to the table with the same drink. I said thatâs not right, we tried it again and itâs completely different and smells terrible. I took it to the bar this time and tell them again. Both bartenders come up to me, smell and taste it and continue to argue that itâs the drink we ordered. I said to just take it off then because itâs not what we ordered or got the first time and we donât like it. Not once did they offer to remake it or replace it with something else. They argued and were frankly very prideful in that they made the right drink. Either our first drink was wrong or the second one was, doesnât matter, I expect better service from an establishment touting itself as an upscale speakeasy. Also their menu is just less creative than the ones downtown. Overall a poor note to end my birthday night and was excited to live down the street from this place but likely wonât be...
Read moreWent in and decor was a little all over the place but we were excited to give it a chance. Got our drinks and sat down. Floor and tables were sticky in spots. My drink was alright, nothing special, but my partnerâs drink was too sweet. So she went to request another. He proceeded to question what was wrong with it and when she said it was too sweet he grabbed a straw, took some, and tried it and lo and behold he agreed. He sort of stared whilst offering no solutions until she asked if it could be made less sweet. He remade the drink less sweet and had her try it in front of him and then lectured that next time she should specify the level of sweetness she wanted and that he was helping her for the future like she needed advice ordering at a bar and that it was presumptuous to assume a signature drink would have a reasonable level of sweetness. We promptly left after paying our $35 for two mediocre at...
Read moreDidnât like my drink, asked to have my drink remade or a different drink because it was too sweet. Bartender tried the drink (with a straw, but thatâs still weird) then remade the drink and of course it was still too sweet lol. I said itâs fine and then he lectured me about how if I know I donât like sweet drinks I need to learn to ask for drinks less sweet in the first place. It came across as very condescending so booo to him. The tables were sticky, the floor was sticky, and the water station was empty the whole time we were there. 2 drinks = $35 which is crazy! Just go to a speakeasy downtown instead and youâll find better drinks and a...
