Been craving Indo-Chinese for over a year now and finally had a chance to eat some. We picked Hakka Express which is a food truck in a large food truck park, because it was a large order and the prices were the best among the now 5-7 stable Indo-Chinese spots in the greater North Austin area. The food truck park was pretty busy with a bunch of Indian food trucks along with a variety of other cuisines. They had ample covered seating and pretty lights for ambiance. Service was fine.

There’s also signage that says Halal so my parents ate here as well which was convenient.

We ordered lollipop chicken, Schezwan lollipop chicken, tandoori chicken fried rice, chicken Schezwan noodles, and chicken Hakka noodles. Price came to about $65 before tax. The noodle and rice dishes came completely packed and we were really surprised and happy about that. Really amazing portions.

To rate each dish:

Lollipop Chicken - 9/10: These are wings to resemble lollipops, marinated in spices, and deep fried. Absolutely nostalgic and hit all the right spots.

Schezwan Lollipop Chicken - 9/10: Similar to the above but tossed in a spicy Schezwan sauce. It was excellent & wifeys favorite though I prefer the original as it’s crisper and dry while this is wetter.

Tandoori Chicken Fried Rice - 7/10: Fried rice with pieces of tandoori chicken. This was okay and not my favorite mainly due to it being a bit dry. They did load it up with a ton of chicken though.

Chicken Schezwan Noodles - 8/10: Love the color, wife’s 2nd favorite. I prefer the Hakka noodles but this was a solid choice.

Chicken Hakka Noodles - 9/10: Totally hit the spot with the right flavors. Milder than the rest and just what I was wanting.

Overall, I liked the food a lot. I don’t eat Indo-Chinese often but I wouldn’t mind ordering the chicken lollipops or Hakka noodles again. The problem at this location its very chicken-heavy. I get why there’s no beef, but I do wish there was some variety with shrimp/prawn...

Upon visiting the Hakka Express food truck nestled among a lively hub of Austin's street food scene, one can expect to indulge in an array of Indo-Chinese delicacies. I chose the Vegetarian Manchurian Noodles, a dish that boasts a harmonious blend of Indian spices and traditional Chinese cooking techniques. The noodles were interspersed with succulent Manchurian balls, their crispy exterior giving way to a soft, flavorful interior. Although the wait time of 25-30 minutes was a testament to the truck's popularity, it did allow for the absorption of the vibrant ambiance that only a gathering of food enthusiasts can provide.

The menu, a litany of comfort food, ranged from spicy Szechuan offerings to the milder, yet equally savory, Manchow soups, each priced reasonably. Despite the crowd, the food truck managed to maintain an inviting atmosphere, enhanced by the symphony of sizzling woks and the warm glow of fairy lights.

However, the dish, while satisfactory, didn't quite reach the heights of culinary delight that one might expect from such a fusion. The noodles, though well-cooked, lacked the depth of flavor necessary to elevate them beyond the ordinary. The Manchurian balls, while adeptly fried, needed a zestier sauce to truly shine.

In summary, Hakka Express serves as a solid choice for those looking to satiate their Indo-Chinese cravings. While my experience was pleasant, with a few tweaks to intensify the flavors, Hakka Express could easily transform their dishes from good to exceptional. For now, it earns a comfortable three stars, with the...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hakka Express, and I must say, this place is amazing. The food is first-class, with a delightful variety of flavors that are sure to impress any palate. Be prepared for some spice, but it's well worth it for the rich taste and authentic experience.

We sampled almost everything on the menu, and each dish was a hit. The momos and chicken lollipop were particularly outstanding—definitely the stars of the show. I highly recommend these to anyone visiting.

The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to bring friends and family. Like you are in a dhaba. The owner is exceptionally humble and welcoming, adding a personal touch to the dining experience. He prepares and marinates everything himself, ensuring that each dish is fresh and bursting with flavor.

Overall, Hakka Express delivers a fantastic culinary experience. Whether you're a fan of spicy food or just looking to try something new, this place will not disappoint. I highly recommend it...
